My clients come from many walks of life and may be going through several challenges in this thing we call life. My goal is to make therapy a safe space for my clients to process their presenting problems and not feel judged. Only evidence-based therapy approaches will be used to help my clients reach their therapy goals including Person Centered, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma Informed Care. I help my clients feel validated, empowered, and capable to overcome life challenges.

Moms, it is time for you to heal! Very few moms take time for themselves to focus on their own needs and growth. Therapy allows you to unpack yourself. Together we will heal the wounds from the past to create change in current relationships with kids, your partner, friends, co-workers, etc. I work with unsatisfied women and moms who want to dive deeper into themselves. My clients have a safe place to be vulnerable to do the work. During our sessions, I will challenge you to get curious about yourself; by doing that, you will show up within your relationships more connected, authentic, and regulated.

Emotions...UGH! What are they good for? Well...you might not want to hear this, but those emotions you are feeling serve a purpose, but you might not understand how they are serving you. That's where I come in. You may feel aimless in parenthood, career, or your relationships. You want to understand more about who you are and what makes you tick, and want a safe and warm space to explore those thoughts. You might be a member of the LGBTQIA+, poly, and/or open community and worried about judgement as you navigate the unique experiences of your life.

I treat depression, anxiety, relationship intimacy, sexual dysfunction, divorce and family issues, and loss. If you are feeling not seen or understood, or experiencing sexual dysfunction, you can better your life. I accept all circumstances and know the courage it takes to change. I am a retired Army Medical Officer. I have witnessed and assisted soldiers with trauma, recovery, careers, adjustments, transfers, family, retirement, and veteran issues. In our therapeutic partnership, we explore together discovering and learning new truths and seeing your world with fresh perspectives. You set the pace.

Navigating today's society is not an easy task. From exploring new friendships, relationships and experiences to balancing school and extracurricular activities, the world can feel pretty overwhelming at times, especially when you have been around for only a decade or two. These changes and challenges can lead anyone to feel like they are on a rollercoaster of emotions.

I often work with people to manage issues in their lives that have become difficult and distressing, such as separation/divorce, career/job changes, grief/loss, relocation, becoming a parent, and retirement. Some clients experience symptoms of anxiety or depression and we focus on realistic, practical strategies to reduce their intensity and impact. My approach involves closely assessing how these issues impact daily life, how relationships are affected, what support has or hasn't been available and then develop a plan for working toward changes and greater satisfaction in life.

Life can be really hard sometimes, and we all need a person to whom we can open up about the painful and complex struggles we endure. I serve as an empathetic and empowering coach during your challenges and triumphs alike.

I believe that no matter what age you are, most emotional struggles stem from a feeling of disconnection - from self, family and friends, or the world in general. You may feel as if you aren't yourself lately, or as if relationships have become difficult to navigate. Possibly you're having a hard time staying present and engaging in the world around you. Catherine Travelstead is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who is passionate about helping children and families thrive in times of distress. Catherine has extensive experience in working with children and adolescents with behavioral and mental health concerns. Additionally, she is comfortable working with high needs and intense behaviors.

My counseling practice centers around helping individuals and couples who have experienced sexual trauma and/or brokenness in any of its various forms. Whether it be due to past abuse, recent infidelity, or a history of sexual, physical and emotional betrayal and trauma, I consider it a privilege to walk with clients into the darkness of their stories. I enjoy coming alongside and advocating for those who are tired of just coping, dissatisfied with their quality of life, and desperate for deep change and healing.

I understand that beginning therapy is not easy and takes many people out of their comfort zone. I believe in a warm and nurturing environment that allows clients to work at their own pace. I have specialized training in Internal Family Systems (IFS). This model allows clients the opportunity to get to know each "part" of themselves and provides a way to regulate emotions and improve problem solving skills.
