My name is Chardonney Washington, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Gadsden, Alabama, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with individuals 14-99 and specialize in grief, stress, and mood disorders, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy to help my clients make progress toward their healing journey. I have found that being my true authentic self helps others to be able to do the same. I consider myself a people's person. I don't believe we have to fit into a "textbook" image in order to thrive.

My approach is strength based, person centered, comfort driven, and hope focused.
I just need to take a step back and gather myself. Life is overwhelming right now. I need just one person that I can talk to who will listen. Are these statements familiar to you? Therapy can provide you a safe, nonjudgmental opportunity to work through these thoughts and experiences. Whether you prescribe to a particular faith or not, The Comfort House can help you move toward emotional and mental wholeness.

I find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Art Therapy as efficacious approaches to use to aid individuals through navigating life’s challenges.
Sometimes communicating your feelings to others can be frustrating, scary, or completely different than how you truly feel. There are also times when feelings can be too confusing to try to convey to others. Just like adults, children and adolescents often have difficulty communicating challenging feelings and experiences and that is okay! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I earned of my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology degrees from Alabama A&M University.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered, & an integrative approach.
I love helping others to see and become the best version of themselves. I'm passionate about understanding others and being an open ear to listen no matter what life issues you have. l believe it's important to love yourself and evaluate your thoughts. I have done a lot of work with men, women, and adolescents addressing their substance use (sometimes helping them to fulfill an obligation of court or family). But I enjoy talking with people about all life issues--goals, anxiety, depression, self confidence, self-harm, relationship issues, family issues, and healing. I have overcome a lot myself and I'd like to see you do the same!

No matter the modality, my approach to counseling is strengths-based and person-centered, and that is what our time together will reflect.
Sometimes life can be confusing or overwhelming for us or those we love. Are you or your loved one dwelling on negative "what-if" scenarios? Do you wake up and wonder where your life is going? Do you have a to-do list a mile long and feel guilty when you cannot stay on top of things? Are you and your loved one constantly fighting or struggling to connect? My passion lies in working with individuals and couples who are seeking confidence, safety, connection, and a future. If you are feeling stuck, purposeless, or alone, my desire is to walk alongside you and help you discover that your journey leads to hope.

I lean toward the following therapeutic approaches in how I structure my sessions: cognitive behavioral therapy, person centered therapy, and solution focused therapy; however, I realize that no approach is “one size fits all” and I pride myself in being able to think outside the box.
I love the counseling profession and the role that I get to have in facilitating my clients toward the positive changes that they want to see in their lives. As a counselor, I bring warmth, directness, authenticity, and even humor when appropriate in my sessions. I see each client as they are in their own individuality and respect them as the only expert about what they want or need in their lives. My goal is to always meet my clients where they are in their journey and to remain beside them as a guiding support in their steps toward toward their desired quality of life.
