Gifted students tend to set high expectations and standards for themselves; are perfectionistic and become profoundly disappointed, stressed, and hopeless if they feel they have failed to measure up to their expectations. Gifted individuals are intense and sensitive. Some may view these "big emotions" as illogical, scary, and risky. They need support in balancing their interpersonal and emotional self with their intellectual and logical self. Through setting goals that are realistic and healthy, educating gifted about their overexcitabilities, introducing healthy coping strategies, and self-soothing tools prove very impactful.

It's incredibly important to find a counselor you feel safe and comfortable with. In my experience, clients find it hard to open up in counseling if they experience the counselor as inauthentic. I remain genuine throughout the counseling experience in order to promote a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with you. While I see the benefits of specific counseling techniques and interventions, I believe the counselor-client relationship is the most important aspect of counseling. I am trained in various forms of therapy for individuals with histories of abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression and others.
