I believe in a holistic approach, meaning that mental, emotional and physical health should be addressed in order to help an individual heal. I am solution focused, and believe my role is to help assist you in working through the issues that will allow you to becoming healthier and happier, achieving a fulfilling life that has purpose and meaning. I am extremely passionate about people and relationships. I have been working as a therapist since 2007, when I completed my graduate degree. My undergraduate degree was obtained in 1997 from San Diego State University in Health Education.

Hi there! My name is Kate and currently, I am taking Children, Teenagers, and Adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, school issues, ADHD, behavioral concerns, bullying, self-esteem, trauma, social issues, experimenting with drugs or alcohol, relationships, career stressors, and adjustment to change. I work well with LGBTQ+ populations, young girls and women, and teenage boys who are interested in making a change, looking for accountability, and helping achieve their goals. Christina Mayhaus is an independently licensed clinical counselor. Christina received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati and her Master of Arts in Counseling from Xavier University. Christina has grown up in Cincinnati. She has been working with children, teens, young adults, and adults in the mental health field for several years.

Hello, I am Keyta and welcome to Light & Hope Counseling. We are here to help you as you take this big leap toward being seen, heard, and healed! We work with individuals and couples impacted by trauma, anxiety, and depression. We are experienced mental health therapists who partner with you to hear your story. In this journey, we will understand and eliminate dysfunctional, disruptive behaviors and thoughts while improving relationships. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders. Clients come to me with a variety of symptoms, ranging from the physical (chest pains, stomach pains) to the emotional (panic attacks, detachment). Some clients don't know what they are feeling, they just know they want to feel better. We work together to understand root causes and core beliefs, and then learn coping skills to change the way they think so they can change the way they feel. Clients leave our sessions feeling more empowered. Rather than life happening to them, I teach clients how to be an active player in their own life.

My current practice is focused on helping the helpers. I enjoy working with a large range of human service professionals and caregivers from therapists to parents to teachers to first responders, nurses, and doctors to hairdressers. Those who are on their feet providing for others are my cup of tea. Burn out, secondary trauma, and re-aligning purpose are some of my specialties. I would love to create space where you can process, grow, and replenish your passion.

I believe that psychotherapy allows people to feel understood, seen, and accepted which, in turn, empowers individuals to improve their lives in all areas. My goal is to cultivate a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients can address challenges and cultivate resilience.
