It can be difficult to be human at times. Life can be full of so many losses and challenges, and with busy and demanding schedules, it may not feel like there's any time to process what you’ve gone through. Maybe you’ve found yourself masking and suppressing your real feelings, and as a result, you don’t feel as connected and fulfilled with yourself and your world. In our work together, you're free to explore your emotions and seek deeper insight into who you are. I prefer to think of my role as that of a lantern, bringing to light aspects that you may not have realized and that may be limiting you from leading the life you desire.

My career in counseling started with inpatient stabilization and treatment settings treating all ages in both mental health and addiction. These experiences combined with my own life experience qualify me to help you learn and grow in a non-judgmental atmosphere that will encourage positive thinking and solution focused change. Wellness is all about removing the obstacles that keep you from your true self. I want you to imagine what it would be like to wake up and feel free of the mental anguish that comes from not knowing how to break the debilitating thinking and behavior patterns that govern your life. Feels pretty great, right?

Do you struggle with overthinking, self doubt, or lacking trust in yourself? Do you often feel like an "imposter" and feel like everyone else knows exactly what they are doing but you feel lost? Are you a perfectionist who never feels good enough or like you are never accomplishing enough? Do feelings of low self confidence hinder you from believing in yourself and trusting your abilities? These are often signs of anxiety arising and keeping us stuck and unhappy.

My intention in working with you is to increase your independence so that you can live a comfortable  and happy life. When working with you , I will consider multiple factors such as thought patterns, spirituality, body and mind. I began studying psychology in 1996 and obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Kennesaw State University (summa cum laude) and Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Georgia State University

I specialize in working with people who are experiencing increased anxiety and stress, struggling with panic and responses to past trauma, and navigating daily-life with obsessions and compulsions. I know that awareness brings change. One of the greatest tasks then for therapy is to gain insight and understanding as to what leads to feeling sad and anxious. So often our first desire is to get rid of these experiences, but as we demonstrate the courage to understand and accept all parts of ourselves, we gain access to clarity, harmony, and peace that is often missing in life.

I am a highly experienced therapist who is strongly committed to helping anyone who is struggling emotionally, in any way, find more peace and fulfillment in their life. My treatment focuses on helping you to identify and understand the causes of any anxiety, stress, depression, relationship, physical, or other issues you may be experiencing; in order to then help empower you with effective strategies that will harness your inner ability to heal and thrive.

Lauren most often works with elementary, middle, and high school kids and their families. She takes pride in being flexible and creative with her approach to meet the needs of various ages and personalities, and incorporates everything from expressive arts, to video games, to mindfulness scripts. For teen and adult clients she strives to help individuals identify the unhelpful beliefs they hold about themselves and learn to love themselves through self-compassion, healthy boundaries, and experiencing empathy in her office. Lauren loves working with clients and parents to help them navigate their lives with calm and confidence.

Understanding that there has been a shift in your mental health is the first step for your journey into self-discovery. I am happy that you have chosen to take a deeper look into your life, you are experiencing extreme bravery. As a therapist, I believe that there is a cause for every behavior and response. My role in your journey is to assist you in finding the root of your stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, codependence, and other life altering events and emotions that have disturbed your mental health.
