I am in the private practice of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis with adult and adolescent patients who, despite their innate capacities, are experiencing difficulties in relationships, academics or career. Our work focuses on identifying and dealing with those issues which are outside of awareness, but are interfering with the freedom to succeed in the various areas or their lives; e.g.. interpersonal relationships, anxiety, depression, chronic trauma, medical trauma, difficulty in finding intimacy, and academic and creative blocks.
These problems emanate from our maintaining old behaviors which once "worked", but no longer do. Now they get in our way. Addressing these patterns and why they initially emerged is essential if order to finally have the freedom to choose the direction of our lives..
For all of the above reasons, I believe that all therapies succeed best when they focus on the causes which underlie our problems rather than on the problems themselves or on their symptoms.
