My clients are dreaming of a better world but feel stuck in a world that is causing them great pain. They are passionate about change, both for themself and for the world around them, but might not know where or how to start. If this sounds like you, I want to offer you support in figuring out what change can even look like and how to reach towards it. I can't offer you "the answers" but I can offer you my belief in your ability to change yourself and your world, if you choose it. I view this change process as starting with self, connecting with community, and finally engaging in systems change.

Many come to therapy to change patterns of relating to others and themselves that they feel no longer serve them. I believe that these patterns, hard as they may be now, likely played some important role for you in the past. Perhaps addictions, habits, or defenses met otherwise unmet needs in your life, but now have become limiting and compulsive. I see myself as your partner in a process of deep listening, a process which facilitates growth, healing, and new possibilities for relating to your self and others. Specialties and modalities include: Clinical Hypnosis, gender therapy, trauma, addictions. Also see my group therapy option.

Things have been feeling difficult for a while now. You know you want something different, but it’s hard to motivate and place what that really is. You are sensitive, creative, queer, thoughtful, and full of thoughts. You likely have a habit of overextending yourself in the hopes of finding a place where you feel you belong. You see patterns in your relationships that you want to examine and change. You know you deserve a more satisfying life. Therapy is a non-judgmental space in which you can overcome familiar patterns by being witnessed and heard, and acquire tools to improve your relationship with yourself and others.

Whether you are seeking support around a particular question or area for growth, or searching for a space to figure out what the questions are, you are welcome. I endeavor to provide a collaborative and individualized approach to meet you where you are, and support you in achieving your goals. In relationships I believe authenticity is crucial to build trust and engage in growth. I seek to build authentic connection in therapeutic relationships and view this as an essential foundation for humans in building a deeper connection with the self as a reservoir of their own power.

I support people dealing with depression, anxiety, relational distress, life transitions, gender and sexuality exploration, chronic illness, autism and/or ADHD. Healthy relationships with our family, friends, and support systems including therapy inform our ability to cope, process, and grow. I believe healing happens when we develop self-compassion for our most shamed parts and build support systems that meet us with care and understanding. My style is integrative, mindful and rooted in social justice.

My clients present a spectrum of needs including navigating substance use, relational distress, chronic health issues, and productivity burnout. Often I assist clients interested in exploring impacts of capitalism, social disenfranchisement, and unhelpful narratives that can create negative self-talk, feelings of hopelessness, and existential anxiety. I identify as part of the queer community and work to support LGBTQIA clients in connecting to community, establishing boundaries, and exploring internalized messages that can impact self-esteem, communication skills, and destructive patterns.

Being a teenager has never been easy, but today’s youth are struggling more than ever. Almost every day, I hear from parents, teachers, and colleagues about the effects of the last 2+ years on adolescent mental health. If this is you or someone you love, counseling can help.

I see one of the most important roles as a therapist to be putting in the work to earn someone’s trust and walking beside them as an accomplice on their path towards growth. I don’t believe that people are “broken” or “need to be fixed”, but rather that somewhere within every person lies the capacity to generate change. I believe this change begins by finding someone trustworthy to support them through this process. And—that being kinder and gentler towards ourselves goes a long way to building the foundation for this change to occur.

Maybe you’re just starting your healing journey, or looking for a change - to meet with a therapist who sees you as a whole person, and not just your circumstances. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before but it feels like no one really gets it, or the things that “should” work just don’t. Therapy with Bailey is a little bit different because we have to do things in new ways to start to think and feel better than before. Based out of Pittsburgh, PA and serving clients in Utah through telehealth, this is truly therapy outside the box.

Deeply passionate about social justice and facilitating and guiding positive change and development in the lives of others, I am thrilled to connect with you as you begin your journey inward. Healing is truly the risk of showing up for yourself and your resistance to temptation to go back to unsilenced needs, numbing out, disconnection, and erasure. As a black, gender non-binary Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), I have a personal stake and insight into the work I do. My clinical practice aims to empower and heal individuals, families & communities through therapy, consulting, case management, training, & community outreach.

How can I find a therapist in Pennsylvania?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
