My approach to therapy is from a Cognitive Behavior perspective based on Christian values. My goal in counseling is to provide my clients with alternative ways of thinking about themselves, life, relationships, etc. I have opted for this therapeutic approach because in life, every thought is tied to an emotion. Those thoughts not only affect one mentally, but physically. If an individual can change the way they view life, their current situation, and how they feel, it could ultimately change their behavior.
l have training in Crisis Intervention, pre-martial and marriage counseling, in addition to working with at-risk youth. I desire to aid clients in discovering the answers to rebuild areas of brokenness in their life; mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
The purpose of a therapeutic relationship is for the client and counselor to establish rapport and an emotional bond. This concept is paramount because in most cases it’s the first time one opens up about the deepest and most imitate parts of their lives. It is my responsibility to provide an open and non judgmental environment for my clients to flourish.
