Is your child controlling your household with their demands, tantrums and power struggles? Are you feeling exhausted, out of control and defeated? Are you embarrassed in public and afraid that people see your child's behavior as your failure? Are you tired of fighting, struggling, and trying so hard, but getting nowhere?
The PCIT Institute specializes in families with children 2-8 with difficulties such as: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), Autism Spectrum disorders, anxiety and difficult divorce reactions. By giving equal attention to the parent-child relationship and to parents' behavior management skills, The PCIT Institute of SoCal enhances parent-child interactions, improves children's behavior, and empowers parents to use consistent, predictable, effective parenting strategies that work. This cutting-edge, short-term therapy approach has been proven to improve child behavior and enhance parent-child relationships with long-term results. Visit the PCIT Institute's website today and take our online questionnaire to get insight into your child's behavior and find out if PCIT is right for you and your family!
Over 30 published studies have documented the superiority of PCIT over other methods. Outcome studies have demonstrated important changes in parent-child interactional patterns and have repeatedly shown significant changes with children's behavior problems. After PCIT, children demonstrate significant improvements in compliance and reductions in other disruptive behaviors, such as whining. The effects of PCIT have been shown to generalize to untreated siblings. Following PCIT, parent study's show an increase in closeness where there are more frequent "positive talks" with their child. Outcome studies have also demonstrated significant changes on parents' mood, as they are often no longer down, distressed, and feel that they are in control. PCIT success is largely maintained at least 6 years after treatment completion with no other treatment.
