Your grief is welcome here. When someone close to you dies, your life can shift drastically. Every type of grief has the potential to be life disrupting, but grief experienced after suicide, overdose, or other traumatic loss can be particularly challenging. You may feel: shock, confusion, doubt, crushing pain, heartbreak, loneliness, despair, anxiety, overwhelm, anger, guilt, and isolation. Your life has been turned upside down in an instant. You feel lost. You don’t know who you are anymore, but you know you won’t be the same. You’re looking for a guide. Someone who gets it and can handle what you’ve got going on.
My name is Paula, and grief was my initiation into therapeutic art making. Now I use art therapy to assist those who are grieving, especially after suicide. You've been thrust into a dark wilderness of swirling emotions. When language is not enough, art therapy can allow you the space to express how you feel beyond words and find a way to live with grief.
Grief is an inevitable, yet incredibly painful, part of being human. And the closer the relationship, the more intense the pain. Finding a therapist can be challenging when you're already carrying so much. Please take good care of yourself and reach out, because you don’t need to do this alone. I would love to join you in this work. CreativeNatureNC . com
