It takes bravery to seek psychotherapy services as a step toward healing and growth. I've been a practicing psychotherapist since 2010 specializing in individual and couples therapy. My approach aims to help patients understand how early relationships influence life choices and current relationships. I then aid patients in identifying changes they want to make in their lives. We each occupy a unique intersection of race, social class, gender, sexual orientation, and personal history. I want to best understand how the world has related to you, while we also look deeply at how you relate to the world.
I use other modalities when appropriate (CBT, EMDR, etc.), but I have a certificate in psychoanalysis, which is my default approach. Psychoanalysis makes changes at a deep level and examines how the patient contributes to their own obstacles. We'll work together to create a relationship that supports curiosity, reflection, feedback, insight, and change.
In addition to straight and cis patients, I have a lot of experience treating queer and gender expansive patients. About a third of my practice is also typically made up of couples- some on the brink of separation and others just needing a tune-up.
