My approach combines Adlerian and cognitive-behavioral therapies. I often make use of an Adlerian Life Style assessment (a detailed family history and early recollections) to help clients understand their own core beliefs and assumptions about themselves, life, and other people, and to identify strengths and self-defeating beliefs.
I help people develop skills and tools - for example, communication, self-management, and mind-body awareness. Using these tools, clients can make the best use of their time with me to achieve results. These tools may also include how to handle alcohol or substance use with or without mutual help meetings (12-step or SMART Recovery).
