About
Talk therapy works, but finding a therapist can be daunting. I offer free initial consultations to help you determine if we are a good fit and to point you in the right direction. I'm Dr. Paul Hiatt, a clinical psychologist, which means I have doctoral-level expertise in the comprehensive assessment and non-medication based treatment of mental health problems. I have particular interest in working with LGBT individuals. Clients tell me they feel supported, relaxed and comfortable opening up with me, providing significant relief in the short-term and facilitating change in the long-term.
I believe in a flexible, integrative and client-centered approach to treatment. I have expertise in psychodynamic psychotherapy and I am board certified in biofeedback. I am experienced with guided imagery, breath retraining, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques.
I provide relief from symptoms including depression, anxiety, chronic worry, mood dysregulation, aimlessness, hopelessness, shame, identity issues, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, parenting problems, and academic challenges. My calling is to help clients, through the healing power of the client-therapist relationship, to create meaning in their lives and build psychological resilience.
