I was a vocational counselor for many years helping injured workers return to work. I worked as a therapist for twenty years for a psychiatrist, social agency and now in private practice. I specialize in trauma work with adults, children and enjoy working with families to help them become happier and more functional. Individual and couples therapy is particularly rewarding especially when positive change is desired. I can help you formulate and actualize changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviors for more satisfying relationships. I enjoy helping people access their own inner strength and resources to face whatever challenges life presents.
I have had good success with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing(EMDR), especially with people who have trauma. This is highly effective in eliminating symptoms of trauma which can be anger, irritability, intrusive memories of traumatic experience, hyper vigilance and general anxiety. These symptoms can be cleared or at least minimized.
I believe the therapist helps facilitate change, but the power for change comes from the client. I can help you with your desired goals and can guide you to understanding yourself as well as creating an environment that supports your journey towards a happier life.
