With teen clients, I encourage them to have a say in how their parents are involved in their process. If they prefer to focus on their own growth, I offer for parents join a session every six weeks or so to share observations, and offer support. However, if improving communication or strengthening the parent-teen relationship is a goal, we may schedule monthly sessions to support that effort.
