I have years of experience with couples seeking counseling because of conflict and crisis or those who would like to re-ignite the passion and intimacy in their relationship that they once had. I have worked with couples from diverse populations including African American, Latinos, Caucasian, Asian, and Middle-Eastern. I also work with individuals who are struggling with life changes such as divorce, employment changes, parenting, caring for family members, and death of a loved one.

My clients are individuals, couples, or parents who need support. I work with many client’s who are in transition (to college, out of a marriage), or who are seeking support around issues such as anxiety, parenting, addiction, or depression. Some just need someone to help make sense of their current or past relationships. My ideal client has a general goal of gaining a better understanding of themselves, their partners, or their children. I can help with that.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a diverse background in mental health; working with issues including anxiety, depression, attachment injuries, domestic violence, parenting concerns, communication, boundaries, emotional regulation, Adverse Childhood Experiences/family of origin, grief/loss, chronic illness, etc. I prefer to use a holistic model, taking into account biopsychosocial factors in a person's life, rather than treating symptoms alone. When we work towards harmony among all systems in the body and with the rest of the world, we can find deeper, sustainable healing.

Licensed in North Carolina and Virginia, and located in the Roanoke, Virginia, area, I provide Parental Capacity Evaluations, Parent Coaching, Parent Coordination and Consultation, civil and criminal assessments in court cases such as psychological/psychosexual evaluations, mental status, insanity, competency, and trauma therapy/assessment. I specialize in forensic and clinical assessments, domestic violence cases, child physical/sexual abuse, trauma, and law enforcement/corrections pre-employment assessments. My therapy focuses on trauma, dissociative disorders, and domestic violence.

I am a psychologist who helps adults identify and better understand symptoms or concerns and I teach skills for making adjustments in different areas of life. I work with issues such as depression, anxiety, parent coaching, stress management, emotional regulation skills, major life transitions, peripartum/post-partum anxiety and depression, grief, career counseling, and job burnout. I believe anyone can learn about themselves, gain additional coping strategies and skills, and experience growth through counseling. I conduct bariatric, career, personality, and diagnostic assessments. I have PSYPACT and Florida Telehealth licenses.

I strongly believe that clients already possess the strength they need to overcome past hurts. I have a special interest in working with woman recovering from abusive relationships, co-dependency, or parenting issues.

I have been a Counselor for over 30 years. I started out as a Navy Drug and Alcohol Counselor at Roosevelt Roads Naval Hospital in 1989 when I was active-duty Navy. From there, I discovered the satisfaction and joy of working with people and families to help them identify and resolve their problems. I have experience with individuals and families, school-age children, adolescents, and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse, and family issues, including domestic violence.
