Hi, I'm Reevkah and I'm so glad you're here. Life can be difficult, especially when you're experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, parenting concerns, low self-esteem and more. Finding happiness and joy can feel out of reach, so I feel lucky to be part of my client's journey to reaching those goals - which are more attainable than they often seem.

I employ principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to assist families with educational, behavioral, and parenting challenges.
It has been my great fortune to provide psychological counseling to children, adolescents, adults, and families on the Wasatch Front for many years. I have discovered that psychotherapy works best when provided in a supportive and accepting environment. I take an active role; yet believe that respect and collaboration are critical in the therapeutic process. Through collaboration, we will work together to find ways of reducing stress and anxiety in your life, while also establishing new ways to cope with difficulties that are consistent with your personal values and beliefs.

As their parent, you want to help them in every way you can.
Your child means the world to you. You’ve worked and invested so much throughout the years for their benefit and well being. Despite all the planning and parenting preparation you did, there are somethings that you weren’t prepared for: Constant arguments at home and meltdowns. Emails/calls from the school of your child struggling with focus and sitting still. A child that worries and is scared so much of the time. When your teenager says to their friends “I just want to die.” How to help your child through big life changes such as divorce, a move, or the death of a loved one. Or, if someone has purposely hurt him/her.

If you are struggling with parenting, shifts in religious values, past trauma, relational/sexual issues, or another difficult life transition, I would love to work with you and to help you navigate the best path forward FOR YOU.
I believe that each client is the real expert on their own life. I feel honored to facilitate and witness the hard work people do as they connect to themselves and deepen their capacity for true self-compassion, lasting growth, and create meaningful, fulfilling relationships in every phase of life. As Dr. Brené Brown reminds us, we are wired for connection! When we are disconnected from ourselves, it makes creating real connection with others difficult and unsustainable. I love supporting people as they learn to explore, identify, and courageously express their desires from a secure place which is grounded in their values.

Sometimes parenting can be fraught with challenges, and knowing how best to help your child can be confusing. Whether it's behavior problems, anxiety, depression, educational issues, or chronic illness; these issues do have solutions. The guidance you receive should be from someone with the proper training, who utilizes research-based strategies, and resists the urge to rely solely on their "gut" in a treatment setting. This is the current standard in this modern age of psychological care, and combined with the right interpersonal fit, you and your child's efforts in treatment will be more likely to result in lasting change.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
