I have experience and a special interest working with parenting issues, infertility and interpersonal challenges.
In my 28 years working as a psychotherapist, I continue to focus on building a trusting and collaborative relationship with my patients/clients. It is my belief that all good work in therapy is based upon this foundation. I approach each session with the goals of maintaining that relationship, addressing short time issues/struggles, and looking at the underlying connections to daily events and interactions. By using this 3 pronged approach, we can understand ongoing patterns that interfere with achieving the best quality and satisfaction in one's life.

I have been trained in five different evidence-based parenting programs.
Compassion is one key used in treating children and adolescents with anxiety, depression, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and other difficulties together with their parents. In addition to guiding children to strategies to manage adversity, I teach parents how to reinforce these tactics at home between sessions. With this method, children improve quicker than they would with just one hour per week of treatment.

For over 17 years, I have been working with adults, parents, and teens and specialize in parent/child relationships, attachment, and behavior.
Life can be stressful and feel out of control. People choose therapy for a variety of reasons. Such challenges as relationship problems, financial or parenting concerns, problems at work, or feeling dissatisfied or stuck, can lead to negative feelings, depression, anxiety, and addictions. The power to heal and grow is within our control and working through these feeling with someone is part of the healing process. When we process difficult feelings, they can be integrated into our lives as a means of growth and restoration. There is hope for a more peaceful and joyful life.

Masin is the parent of four children, one with special needs.
I love using CBT and neuropsychological assessment in my work with kids, parents and adults. There is no such thing as perfect, but there is such a thing as better. I'm also a parent, so I can empathize. If you're looking for harmony in your family, a strong, healthy bond with your children or to understanding certain cognitive or psychological struggles, but you're not sure where to begin? Here and now is the best place to start.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
