As a clinical social worker, I treat the whole person, including the circumstances in which they live. I offer brief marital therapy that normally concludes in under 10 sessions. I use a responsibility and acceptance approach. I specialize in affair recovery, sexuality, and building healthy communication patterns. I provide individual therapy from a systems orientation. Most of my clients are going through transitions or are experiencing relationship distress and emotional upheaval. I focus on building resilience, and improving communication. I provide an active assessment that is sometimes sufficient to bring about change in one or a few sessions, or provides patients with the information needed to make good treatment decisions.

Lorraine awakens suddenly almost every night, a few hours after having fallen asleep, a racing heart, dizziness, and a fear that she's going to die. Although she's shaken all over, she hasn't a clue why. After many nights of getting up and pacing her living room floor in an attempt to gain control over herself, she decides to see her doctor to find out if something is wrong with her heart. Lorraine's doctor inform's her everything is fine and that she might be experiencing panic. Lorraine calls a counselor to see if he can help.

My clinical practice provides high-fidelity cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to adolescents and adults seeking treatment for mood, anxiety, addiction and sleep disorders to name a few. CBT is a structured psychological therapy that views problems as arising from interactions between cognitions, emotions, behaviors and physiological processes. As a therapeutic approach, CBT is brief (5-15 sessions), here-and-now focused, and measureable in terms of one's response to treatment. My history as a provider includes working in residential settings, in-home care, community care, and individual outpatient care with children, adolescents, adults and their families.
