With a Doctorate in Psychology and more than 20 years clinical experience, I will work in a collaborative way to help you understand the nature of the problems in your life and to set forth your goals for moving forward. My approach is a holistic one, helping clients gain awareness of the connections between emotions, thoughts, and the physical body. My work is influenced by experience in hospitals, schools, group practice, and yoga instruction. I offer short-term counseling, and longer term supportive psychotherapy. Treatment style is determined by client need, but is rooted in positive psychology, mindfulness, and interpersonal psychotherapy.

Life can be difficult and my goal is to help people with these difficult life situations. Sometimes it can be relationships, parenting, nervousness, depression, or help overcoming a past trauma. I am certified in Sand tray therapy to help process any of these life difficulties, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy to assist with past traumas, and Triple P which is the positive parenting program to assist parents with many issues from sleeping issues in infants to ADHD in elementary school. We identify goals by talking about things you want to work on. Needs can change quickly, so sessions are flexible to meet you with what you're needing most at that time, while still addressing ongoing goals. My goal is to provide you a space where you feel safe, seen and heard so you can work on personal growth and self-care. I believe you have what it takes to have the life you want and need. Jan Tedeschi: I have 30+ years of experience with clients and families. I have specialized in parenting and substance use disorder. Developing a tailored approach to each individual and their family system. I use individual style, humor and a solid sense of spirituality; helping clients and parents identify their real needs while normalizing their feelings of frustration and inadequacy. I facilitate in clients taking themselves a little less seriously; helping to dispel shame, lower anxieties and increase capacity for decision making.

My experience extends to all age groups in a variety of settings. These include in-home therapy with children and families, addiction and substance use disorders, assessing and treating adolescents, as well as working with youth interacting with the legal system. I enjoy assisting clients with managing emotions, anxiety, impulsivity, depression, parenting struggles, achieving goals, and moving through a variety of life challenges. I also have a strong interest in specializing in the treatment of children by incorporating Adlerian Play Therapy.

Seeking help in the form of therapy takes courage. I view my role in therapy as embarking on a journey with my client towards greater life fulfillment, improved quality in their relationships and in their overall quality of life. I work with adults struggling with mood and anxiety issues, grief and loss, codependency, marital issues, trauma and life cycle/life adjustment issues, inner child work and family of origin issues. I work with preteens and adolescents and include parenting and family therapy in that work when needed. I enjoy working with couples and have been trained in The Developmental Model of Couples Therapy.

My practice has evolved to using only telehealth and televideo. My specialty is working with people from age 30 up on identity crises, personal reinvention, financial stressors, retirement, downsizing, dealing with feelings of loss, change, anxiety and depression. I have worked with entire families, individuals and couples. There are a lot of misunderstandings between generations and between people. I act as a communication translator to help get people to understand one another. I am licensed to practice in MA and FL but geography should not be a limit so I can work with you outside of those two states as a life coach.

We all face difficult challenges in life that can lead to increased stress, decreased functioning, emotional pain, ineffective coping strategies, and interpersonal struggles. Engagement in therapy can provide a safe space to gain the skills and support needed to manage these difficulties and can help us grow into the best version of ourselves. I believe that therapy works to aid in the healing process because we are wired for social connection and thrive when we are able to be vulnerable and feel understood/accepted.

I began working in the field at 16 for an afterschool program at an outside placement school, things progressed from there. From then to now I completed a BS in Business and an MEd in Counseling & School Adjustment, I obtained an LCMHC in NH and LMHC in MA. I have worked with individuals, couples and families in many settings including schools, residential programs, detention settings, office settings and in the community.

I have over 20 years of experience working with women, couples, and families, primarily addressing challenges at different stages of marriage and raising a family. In addition , issues women frequently face, depression, anxiety, work/life balance, and parenting are an area of special interest. My approach is systemic, viewing people in context of their family, communities, educational situations, beliefs and values that shape how their world is viewed. I support individuals and families to advocate for themselves, and, if appropriate, link people with community resources that might be helpful on their journey.
