I specialize in couples counseling and parenting consultations with an emphasis on adolescent and teen issues. I accept no individual as the problem. Instead, I use my clinical experience to help uncover what is truly happening in your everyday interactions. Together we discover why conflict happens in your relationship(s) and then arm you with new understandings, perspectives and strategies to address it when it does.

Are you frustrated with your relationships? Maybe you’re feeling disconnected from your partner or feeling like a failure as a parent; maybe you struggle to make or maintain friendships. You question yourself constantly, “Is it me…is it them?” You feel like you do the best you can but it isn’t enough. Or maybe, you know you can do better but can’t seem to “get it together.” This is so frustrating! You end up becoming a version of yourself that is unhappy, resentful, defensive, and isolated. You desire a change but may be thinking, “there’s no hope, I’ve tried everything.”

Your relationship doesn’t feel the way you wish it did. Yes, you love each other, but it seems like you fight more often than you don’t these days. Neither of you feels like the other is listening, and you then get caught in cycles you can’t seem to break. Maybe it’s big stuff you’re disagreeing about—money, sex, or parenting—or something seemingly trivial that keeps tripping you up. Or perhaps the relationship you’re struggling with isn’t the one with your partner, but a parent or sibling. Whatever it is you’re facing, you both believe reconnection & repair is possible, and you’re ready to get the support you need to do that.

I am a qualified Parent Coordinator and work with high conflict couples who may be struggling with their co-parenting.
My mission is to inspire others to live their purpose. For over 30 years, I have coached individuals, couples and families with their relationships. The #1 relationship problem goes beyond communication. It is learning to resolve conflict and getting stronger through it. It is about accepting differences for what they are. Whether you just want a stronger relationship or you are in a crisis and do not know which way to turn, the only thing holding you back right now is probably fear. Ask yourself: What would love do? And then give me a call.

Being a man, young adult, parent, and/or couple (especially when you're young) present a challenging set of dynamics. From expectations to societal pressures, the nature of being who you are (& what you deal with) can take tolls on your mental health. Trying to become the best 'you' gets challenged by all the turbulence that life throws at you by means of unexpected challenges, mistakes, and trials, all of which can rumble your purpose, your values, and your sense of self. If left unchecked or overlooked, these tolls can weigh heavy on you and can lead to feeling surrounded by storm clouds & less than the person you know you can be.

My specialty is working with couples and adults dealing with a variety of issues, including anxiety, premarital counseling, infidelity, couple enhancement, conflict resolution, sexual difficulties, trauma, parenting (including co-parenting), divorce, and more.
I believe that a relationship of comfort, trust, and genuine interest between you and me is vital to working on any issue. I also believe that your behavior or way of thinking can be best understood in the context of your past and current circumstances. I try to thoroughly understand my patients and then help them to develop tools they can use to better manage life’s challenges. I believe that partners and family members can overcome most difficulties by taking the time to truly understand each other’s needs and wants.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
