My strengths: Addictions, couples, domestic violence, infidelity, interpersonal conflict, parenting, peak performance, relationships, and trauma.
Relationships are as important to us as food and water. They can strengthen us, like a vitamin, or weaken us, like the flu. You are only as good in relationships as the relationships you have been in. As your therapist, I can assist you in many ways. I can help you learn more about yourself, increase both self-compassion and compassion for others, and heal past trauma. Together, we can explore how to feel more connected to yourself, your values, and people you care about.

I work with individuals and couples on relationship and/or parenting issues.
I believe in your capacity to change and to fully live and enjoy your life. Relationship struggles, illness, addictions, and many other obstacles may be blocking your way to a fully actualized experience. For over 20 years I have helped people overcome their obstacles, come to a new understanding of their choices and relationships, and experience a new freedom. When given a nurturing environment, people flourish. I provide a therapy that is active, warm, and at the same time challenging enough to help you achieve your goals and reach an enjoyment of life that you didn't know was possible.

Other areas of focus include parenting, aging, and past history of sexual abuse.
Are you living in a sexless relationship? Or perhaps the sex you're having is unsatisfying, or hampered by something specific. My office provides you with a safe, comfortable space to discuss your sexual life, answer your questions, all within the framework of a sex-positive atmosphere. I don't believe in pathologizing someone's sexual behaviors. As an AASECT-certified sex therapist, my philosophy is simple: if it's consensual, and it's not hurting you or your partner(s), your sexuality and all that it entails (your fantasies, experimentation, whatever turns you on) will be supported, nurtured, and listened to without judgment.

Let's work together to come back to peace, strength, sweeter awareness, and maybe even some joy. I work with students, artists, actors, writers, and other professionals including those in the tech, medical, and entertainment industries. I take pride as a psychologist in the area of personal growth when dealing with life's challenges. This involves meeting your needs and starting where you are now and going from there. I work collaboratively in order for you to get to a 'better' place. I have accumulated a wealth of experience helping others combat challenges of not being able to have children by traditional means. I worked with patients exploring 'good' solutions to this heart-rending process. My goal involves helping individuals deal with the normal and not so normal life challenges of depression, self-esteem, anxiety, relationships, children, parents, and more.

Thank you for taking time to read about my work. I am a clinical psychologist (PhD, UCLA, 1991) and have been providing psychotherapy to individuals and couples for over twenty five years. My approach integrates insight oriented/depth psychotherapy with mindfulness/meditation within a framework of body awareness. A central part of therapy is the mutually created caring and healing relationship. If we work together, time will be devoted to building a trusting, safe and containing relationship where early (developmental) as well as more recent challenges can be discussed, explored and healed.

I've seen how life changing therapy can be ... it certainly has been for me. My work centers around family issues, finding and growing healthy relationships, exploring existential issues such as work, career, unrealized desires and ambitions, and and overcoming issues such as anxiety, depression, insecurity and anger. I work with men, women and couples. The title of my first book, "I Can't Believe My Life Has Come to This" was born from hearing it many times in my office. So..if you're ready to take control of your life and operationalize your dreams, we may be a great match. I look forward to speaking with you,..

I approach psychotherapy from a whole-person perspective and I believe therapy, along with other practices, can help us awaken to a life of meaning. In therapy I will help you identify the source of your longing to be whole, and together, we will move closer to that source, so you become re-sourced. Together we will explore your innate natural cycles and help you align to your own rhythm, so that you might meet depletion with rest and energy with creativity.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
