How else was I going to fix my life after my parents damaged me :-) After growing up in foster care, abused & abandoned, I spent decades feeling lost & helpless. At 37, I finally learned how to heal myself. I went on to get my PhD in Mental Health Counseling, a Hypnotherapy degree, & became an author of self-improvement books. I went on to work in women's in-patient & co-ed out-patient substance abuse facilities, a psychiatric hospital, private practice, the military, low income families, and wrap around services for foster children.

My approach to treating these disorders is holistic but also can work with the 12 step model. I look at what may be driving this behavior the "underlying core issues" rather than focusing on symptoms alone. I do not see clients who are actively using drugs or alcohol. I am able to counsel family members of addicts.
