Hello! I am very excited to work with you. I have almost 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, adolescents, children and families in a multitude of settings. I absolutely love working with people of all ages and helping facilitate positive changes. My style is unique and combines components of several different modalities in order to have a holistic and individualized approach to everyone that I have the pleasure of working with.

Thirty years of practice taught me that therapy can be more than empathic listening and supportive talk but an active vehicle of empowerment and change. I have combined my foundational training in structural family and narrative therapies with the depth orientation of mindful insight and the action techniques of cognitive behaviorism. Working with individuals, couples/families, we collaborate to identify the patterns that reinforce relational conflict ("structures") and the repetitive stories told and heard about personal limitations ("narratives"). Then, with our combined wisdoms, we rewrite the script(s) to include greater meaning and motivation, humor and hope, compassion and clarity.

My approach to counseling and consulting draws from rich traditions of spirituality, energy healing, and psychology. My framework is TRANSFORMATIONAL in nature, insight-oriented, purposeful, and achieving wholeness from a personal or spiritual perspective. I am trained in both the behavioral sciences and religion. My goal is to provide therapeutic services to individuals and groups for all ages. I respect the dignity and worth of every person and consider it a privilege to WELCOME and ACCOMPANY people on their journey as challenging situations come up. Welcome! Choosing a therapist is a big decision, and I appreciate being considered! While my background and training have focused strongly on child, adolescent and family therapy, I also work with individual women and couples. I sometimes say that I use a "family doc" model of psychotherapy. That is, I might see an anxious child individually and then, because kids' issues are so intertwined with their families will work with the whole family for a period of time. Or I might spend some sessions with an individual woman, who would then like to bring her partner for couples therapy.

MensRole specializes in male issues and helping those who have men and boys in their lives. I have worked for the past 10+ years in residential treatment with some of the most challenging youth in the state. At the request of many former clients and caregivers, I have finally moved into private practice to help those families avoid the need for residential treatment. I continue to work collaboratively with other therapists, schools, Department of Corrections, Child and Family Services and Child Protective.

My methods include the use of creative expression through creative play, art, dramatic play, music, puppetry, creative writing, sculpture, painting, and other modalities for clients of all ages. I also offer traditional talk therapies designed for clients to develop solution-focused ideas to their own concerns as the goal is for each client to become their own best expert.

I offer free initial consultations; I believe that finding a good fit with a clinician is the key to a successful therapeutic relationship. The main tools I use are honesty, humor, compassion, consistency, and constant positivity. I often say that I can find the silver lining in any situation and I work hard to share this gift with people.
