I believe the most powerful tool we can offer others is our ability to authentically, genuinely and completely listen. I have been privileged to work with many children, teens and adults and bear witness to their stories. It has been the most profound gift and I am grateful to have been trusted with the opportunity to hear them. My work as a clinician is grounded in listening. In establishing a safe, supportive and nurturing co-created environment. It is rooted in helping people find their voice and trust their own ability to change their lives. The power of being present and fully in the moment can transform lives.

I began my career as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) later in life, and I have great passion for the work I do with my clients. I have 10+ years of experience as a therapist for children/teens, adults, and families. I have worked in out-patient, school-based, in-home, and community settings. With younger children and parents, I often employ the principles of Parent-Child Interactive Therapy, focusing on child-directed and parent-directed play. For family therapy, I use a relational approach that is based on positive communication, mutual respect, and active listening skills. I enjoy collaborating with clients on goals.

Concerns related to sex and intimacy are some of the most sensitive and personal. Experiencing sexual concerns, such as low sexual desire, erectile dysfunction, pelvic pain, or difficulty with orgasm no longer has to be secretive or embarrassing. Finding a therapist who is open, supportive, and has effective tools is imperative on the journey to satisfaction and pleasure. Using a Cognitive Behavioral & collaborative approach, I work with individuals or couples to help them further understand the concerns that effect them, their relationships, & their sexual functioning.

My goal is to allow client to openly address their levels of fear, depression and issues relating to their disorder. Many factors from past encounters result in high levels of depression and mental health conditions. My goal is to allow my client to address these fears and use my services as a three stage process to function independently with the least amount of medication and therapeutic interventions as possible. My overall goal is to address condition using alternative therapeutic problem solving interventions, while at the same time helping them to make changes based on their current condition. Now Accepting New Clients for May: Individuals, couples, and families- Therapy is a collaborative journey of discovery. It is my belief that our healing lies in the gifts we have yet to uncover. As we learned to exist in this challenging world, these gifts often became clouded or adapted to meet our survival needs. The weight of our past, the stress of our daily lives, and our fears for the future can begin to drag us down and dull our experience. Through a process that is gentle, intuitive and individually tailored my goal is to help you unearth your gifts so you can move through your life with more lightness and ease.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapists

Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?

PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.

How long does PCIT last?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.

Can PCIT be done online?

PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.

Does PCIT help parents?

In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
