The process of counseling allows us to gain clarity about ourselves and our situation. It can be profoundly therapeutic to speak to someone who knows how to listen. The gains and insights achieved can be thrilling, but the process itself is hard work. I have been a Clinical Social Worker for 40 years in many settings. I have learned the nuts and bolts of chemical dependency, treatment resources and the path to acceptance of a mental health diagnosis.

Spencer Gerber is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Ohio who has been practicing since 2014. Spencer is a firm believer in the healing power of relationships, community, and connection, and has built his framework for treating the people he supports with that in mind. Using a mix of evidence-based practices and a relational approach, Spencer supports people through life's challenges, teaches skills for working through overwhelming times, and encourages deep introspection around how our past experiences and current environment shape our internal and external realities.

Laura Palisin received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Dayton and her master's degree in community counseling from Kent State University. She has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in outpatient, inpatient and school settings. She has advanced training in trauma focused therapy including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT).

Michael Tesler received his master's degree in counseling and his bachelor's degree in psychology from Cleveland State University. His previous experience includes providing counseling to school-aged children and their families. He has also served as a program manager for patients with dual diagnoses and for community members in need of housing placement. He provides individual counseling for adults ages 18-64. His treatment specialties include addiction, Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder,depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Michael Baskin is a licensed independent social worker with over 40 years of experience in mental healthcare. He received his bachelor's degree from Ohio University and his master's degree from Case Western Reserve University. He has previously worked in community mental health, private practice, outpatient and school-based settings. He has extensive training in family systems and in Jungian studies. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award form the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Board of Cuyahoga County in 2018. He specializes in issues regarding grief, death, illness-related issues, mood disorders and family systems.

Dr. Julie Janco-Gidley is a licensed psychologist who has been practicing since 2010. She received her B.A. in psychology from Case Western Reserve University, her M. A. from Cleveland State University in Clinical/Counseling Psychology, and her Ph.D. from The University of Akron in Counseling Psychology.

Bill Hamilton received his master's degree in social work from Case Western Reserve University and his bachelor's degree from Baldwin-Wallace College. He served in supervisory and investigation positions with the Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services for 20 years. He is a member of the International Dyslexia Association and on the Board of Directors with the Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries START program, which serves at-risk youth. He also serves as an adjunct instructor for Case Western Reserve and Cleveland State Universities.

Bill has his LISW designation and has been in psychotherapeutic practice since 2016, although he earned his MSW in 1998 at the University of Michigan - AnnArbor. Bill utilizes a holistic approach to therapy, focusing on what works for each client to help them be the healthiest they can be. Bill is trained in multiple modalities to help clients overcome trauma and other psychological challenges, such as depression and anxiety. Bill incorporates talk-therapy, mindfulness, meditation, hypnotherapy and NLP, and encourages healthy nutrition and exercise.

Her areas of expertise include counseling with children, adolescents and adults in the areas of: attachment/adoption issues, anger management, high-functioning autism and Asperger Syndrome, crisis/trauma issues, conduct disorders, mood disorders, family communication and parenting issues. She holds a bachelor's degree from Kent State University and her master's degree in community counseling from Cleveland State University.

Steve Fratantonio is a licensed mental health counselor studying for his doctorate in counseling psychology. He has more than 15 years of experience providing mental health care services to children, adolescents and adults in private practice and community mental health. His specialty area of interest is working with both adults and adolescents, as well as their families. He has advanced training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and alternatives for families: cognitive behavioral therapy (AF-CBT).

Nicole Durbin is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor with more than 11 years of experience in community mental health and private practice. Her continued education began at Muskingum University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Child and Family Studies. She went on to graduate from Malone University with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and continued by gaining a Master's Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Carolina Sanchez is a bilingual Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, who has been practicing since 2017. She graduated from Kent State University with a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Carolina believes in insight-oriented therapy to help her patients gain a new understanding of their self and others through exploration of past painful experiences and the emotional impact it has made on their current happiness.

Khannah Wetmore is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Ohio who has been practicing since 2019. They have a Master of Science in Social Administration (MSSA; MSW equivalent) from the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences via Case Western Reserve University. Khannah has expertise in end-of-life care, grief support and counseling, care of older adults, LGBTQ+ and gender-affirming care, and trauma-informed care.

Dr. Rakos received his master's and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Kent State University and his bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He recently retired from his position as associate dean for faculty and program development in the College of Sciences and Health Professions at Cleveland State University, where he also was a professor of psychology. Dr. Rakos is widely published in the areas of assertiveness training, self-management, law and psychology, and cultural analysis, and is the author of Assertive Behavior: Theory, Research and Training.

Melanie Prepetit earned her bachelor's degree in social work at Bowling Green State University and her master's degree in social work from Case Western Reserve University. She has more than 25+ years of experience providing therapy in community-based, outpatient and residential treatment settings. She has also served as a clinical supervisor and director of community-based therapy. Melanie believes in a holistic approach to treatment. Her practice is LGBTQIA+ friendly and a transgender safe space. She specializes in trauma and abuse, reactive attachment disorder (RAD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Kristen Schmauder is a licensed clinical social worker with advanced training in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and integrative treatment of complex trauma for adolescents. Prior to joining LifeStance Health, she served as lead therapist and case manager for a residential treatment center in Columbia, Missouri, where she also supervised bachelor's and master's level practicum students. She holds her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Missouri. She works with children and adolescents and their families.

Jami Shanes is a licensed professional counselor and licensed independent chemical dependency counselor. She received her bachelor's degree from John Carroll University in psychology, graduating magna cum laude, and her master's degree from John Carroll University in clinical mental health and counseling. She has experience working with adolescents and adults in inpatient and outpatient settings. She has a specialized interest in working with dual diagnosis, panic disorder, life transitions, mood disorders and anxiety disorders.
