Pamela Hobson-Jones (LPC)-I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have a master's degree in Psychology with a concentration in Alcohol/Substance Abuse. I have been working in the mental health field for several years and have experience working with adults and families who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, grief /loss, addiction, relationship concerns, and other life experiences. I am committed to helping individuals learn how to build healthier relationships with themselves and others. My work focuses on targeting ineffective behaviors, habits, and core beliefs.
I utilize an eclectic approach that includes Psychodynamic Therapy, CBT, Trauma Informed Therapy, DBT, ACT, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction, with an eye toward how people can use their support system, community resources, mindfulness, and newly learned skills to live the kind of life they envision for themselves.
My communication style consists of centered, empathetic, and goal-oriented, with a focus on establishing rapport and actively listening to the client's concerns. Approaching goal setting with clients is most effective when it’s collaborative, client-centered, and flexible. Goals may evolve as clients progress.
