I am an experienced business professional that entered the field of marriage and family therapy to help others. I have been inspired to change careers to this path as my own life experience taught me about the importance of caring for my mental health to live my best life. As an African American, Queer woman I have worked through the struggles associated with identity, social pressure, the expectations of others, and the importance of building a family of choice.
I have experience with institutionalization of the infirm and living with long term medical conditions. The stress produced by managing health care providers, medications, and emergencies can affect us deeply. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in Fortune 500 corporations which attuned me to the effects of work life balance and workplace stress.
It is very empowering to know that someone understands your experiences and supports you. I can be a part of your support through: individual, couples, or family therapy. My specialties include social identities (LGBTQIA+, racial, et), and the life dynamics of medical conditions including mental illness.
