I believe that providing a safe and supportive space, combined with therapeutic collaboration, facilitates change. I utilize an eclectic approach and believe in using evidence based treatments, tailored for each unique individual, their specific needs, and desired goals. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families who are ready and motivated toward change, however, just aren't sure how to get there. Once given the proper tools and skills, options appear and the ability to choose a better path presents itself.
I specialize in trauma-focused counseling. Traumas, big or small, often cause depression, anxiety, strained relationships, occupational & academic obstacles, which interfere with achieving life goals. With guidance and support clients learn to make connections between past traumas, current stressors and triggers to employ new and more adaptive ways to cope.
EMDR effectively lessens symptoms felt by trauma survivors. I have received the "Serving Our Veterans Behavioral Health Certificate," to better serve military veterans & families. I have extensive experience in treating traumas due to grief/loss, natural disasters, abuse (physical/emotional/sexual) and various other misfortunes related to every day life.
