My approach to the counseling process is very direct and combines skills obtained from years of practicing law as well as years of practicing psychotherapy.I will focus initially on building a therapeutic alliance from a broad mix of theoretical and sociocultural competencies including Native American, dialectical and existential perspectives. I provide specialized pain management, trauma treatment, dialectical behavioral therapy and co-occurring disorder therapy for both mental health and addiction issues including eating disorders. I work with all populations specializing in work with teens, adults and families.

I have helped people overcome difficulties related to stress and anxiety, trauma, depression, and sleep difficulties. I have experience working with individuals with severe mental illnesses that impact their lives significantly. I also complete various psychological assessments for ADHD and cognitive functioning evaluations, risk (violence and stalking) assessments, forensic evaluations, and psychodiagnostic evaluations. I also am available for clinical supervision for psychology practicum students, interns, and residents/postdocs. If seeking supervision, consultation is free to assess for goodness of fit and supervision needs.

**FULL** Often by the time an individual is entering my office, they have become bogged down and overwhelmed by stress in their life. It is my goal to help quiet the mind (and the busy, stressful world) enough to get in touch with the heart and find true healing. I am a down-to-earth therapist - essentially just another being walking this path of life and trying to find fulfillment in it. I have worked with varied populations throughout Louisiana and Oregon; most often with male & female adults, couples, adolescents, and children ages 7-11. I have addressed multiple varied needs including sexual dysfunction, gang activity, drug use, domestic violence, PTSD, personality, mood disorders as well as relationship issues. **Education: I have a bachelor's degree (4 years) in Psychology (Oregon State University, Corvallis). I also have (one year) education (Holy Cross College, New Orleans, Louisiana) in Marriage and Family Therapy. I acquired a master's degree in Social Work (3 year master's program) from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.

I find it personally rewarding to work with young parents, individual adults, couples and elders as they explore ways to improve their lives and their personal relationships. Within the context of a safe therapeutic relationship we then can collectively explore and resolve barriers to intimacy, conflicts, and historical events that then release you to more fully live your life. Although the therapy process frequently entails deep personal work, whole-hearted laughter and play are an integral part of the journey. Ultimately, therapy is the relationship template from which you then embark on a more fulfilling, meaningful life.

As a supportive therapist I am dedicated to helping people achieve their goals and enabling them to make important changes in their lives to improve their relationships, reduce anxiety, stress and depression. I offer a diverse approach to therapy to meet the needs of each individual, couple or family I work with and am committed to providing the essential support, compassion and empathy that they need to restore their sense of self and improve personal happiness, self esteem and self confidence.

Discovering who we are, where we came from and what has transpired in our lives is vitally important in understanding how we relate to others and the world around us. My approach to counseling utilizes the Family Systems Model and Cognitive-Behavioral techniques.  I believe our past experiences and environments help us to develop how we think and respond to life’s stresses.  This is where CBT can be helpful in changing false thinking and negative responses. As a client understands themselves and their current situation they can change their thinking process and subsequently their behaviors.

My theoretical approach to counseling is through Person-Centered Therapy, which embodies a safe environment for my clients without judgment or pre-conceived goals or expectations.

My practice focuses on people who want to enjoy greater peace and more satisfying relationships. I’m pleased to serve children, adolescents, and adults. The emphasis of my work includes treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, interpersonal difficulties, psycho-spiritual issues, ADHD, and child/adolescent behavior problems.

Hi, I'm Trevor. I have served in the mental health field for nearly two decades, assisting countless people overcome challenges and lead more fulfilling lives. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Master Addiction Counselor assisting individuals, couples, and families. My practice foundations are in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other solution-focused interventions. I have trained under Steven Rollnick, a co-founder of Motivational Interviewing - the current therapeutic standard for treating substance use disorders and other addictions. I also use EMDR to assist clients experiencing the emotional and physical impact of traumatic events.
