I enjoy people, and get great satisfaction out of helping folks work through the knots and tangles of this life. My ideal client is someone who is trying to move through a period of pain or confusion, and has lost a sense of direction or confidence in the ability to move forward. I am drawn to help with difficulties in family relationships - between couples of all genders, parents and children, adults and their parents, and those coping with substance abuse, or family members in the grip of substance abuse.
The technique that I find most useful is called narrative therapy. Since most therapy takes place in the realm of language, it makes sense to use practical, compassionate conversation to help ease apart the stories we become caught in, to unearth new possibilities and find new directions for resolution.
I have been in practice for over 25 years, and bring a warm mature level of experience to my professional relationships.
