My approach to therapy centers on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and PCIT for Selective Mutism.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in New York and am passionate about supporting parents in their own mental health journeys, as well as through parenting challenges. I also provide individual therapy for adults with anxiety, OCD, and depression. My goal is to foster a warm and supportive therapy space while grounding our sessions in evidence-based approaches. I work with clients across the lifespan, from early childhood through adulthood, with the goal of managing emotions and behaviors more effectively. I aim to empower people to face their fears, tolerate uncertainty, and build a life that is in line with their values.

If you are worried about your child, I may be able to help. I work with children who are struggling with emotional and social difficulties that make every day challenges harder and interfere with feeling confident and secure. Separation issues, fears, relatedness issues, and parent-child issues are frequent motivations for parents to seek my services. I offer ongoing parent guidance and 3 session consults on children who I are presenting with symptoms that are difficult for parents and teachers to sort out. I also offer clinical supervision for child focused clinicians or therapeutic teachers.

I support families, couples, and individuals experiencing issues around life transitions, losses, and grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, relational issues, parenting, the process of deciding and becoming parents, infidelity, intercultural dynamics, integrating cultural and transnational experiences.
As a relational therapist, I am deeply passionate to support individuals, families, and couples as they navigate life transitions and different experiences that impact connection with oneself and/or with one another. I strongly believe in the power of resilience (capacity to recover from any impact) and finding growth in the midst of challenges. I also believe, that sometimes finding the openings for growth are not so visible or accessible to our perception and therapy can support expanding that vision.

I believe children and parents can have a happy time together. All children as they grow and all parents as they go through parenting encounter kinks in their development. I like to help children and adolescents learn to listen to and express their feelings directly and to help parents learn how to listen and communicate better with their children. With over 25 years of experience working individually with children and parents, in play group therapy and in parenting groups, I know how to use the strengths of each, child and parent, to promote better understanding of themselves and each other.

I have a passion for working with couples at all stages of the life cycle. Premaritals, empty nesters, LGBT couples, couples with young children seeking to balance parenting with time for self and partner, couples needing support around sexuality and commitment issues, couples at a crossroads.... Much of my early therapeutic training was in Hospice bereavement counseling. Through that experience I became drawn to therapeutic encounters with the potential for spiritual renewal. In recent years I've connected with that initial sense of generativity and meaning through the practice of couples therapy, most notably in work as a premarital counselor.

After receiving my graduate degree from Boston University, I pursued additional training in trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy, parent/teen mediation, addiction training, and motivational interviewing.
Have you wondered if your child or adolescent would benefit from therapy? As a senior therapist at Greenwich Psychology Group, I enjoy working with children and adolescents that may be struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral or family issues. You can talk to me about anything; nothing will surprise me. I am accessible to parents and easy to talk to. I focus on your child, recognize their strengths, and develop tools to become their own therapist by learning how to deal with challenges. Clients often feel better early on in treatment.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
