I have over eight years experience treating exclusively trauma survivors.
At some point in our life we all experience a traumatic event. For some, these traumatic events (such as sexual abuse, a break-up, domestic violence, death of a loved one) are manageable and symptoms typically subside without disrupting any other areas of life. However, for others, such traumatic events take control over some or all areas of their life and lead to negative long-term consequences. As painful as the trauma is, you can still heal and grow after a traumatic event.

My ideal client aims to engage in an active partnership to build self-awareness and take action to make a change. I will give you feedback and challenge you, which is not everyone’s cup of tea! I work best with those suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, overwhelm, trauma , or emotional flooding. Many of my clients report that our work helped them shift from survival mode to a sense of thriving. I suggest homework; your progress is based on your willingness to practice. As a therapist specializing in trauma , I understand the unique impact of experiencing Complex Trauma ( trauma that occurs over a long period of time) and how to support individuals living with symptoms of CPTSD.
Nobody gets through life without difficult experiences. Some experiences, like living through childhood neglect, abuse, or family dysfunction, make everyday stressors even more difficult. Difficult childhood experiences don’t just “go away” once we become adults. They can impact every aspect of adult life.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in substance abuse/addictions, ACOA issues, and trauma .
The primary focus of my practice is working with clients who have experienced trauma and/or have experienced issues with substance abuse. Many times, they go hand in hand. This includes people contemplating sobriety, those in early recovery who may need support, those in longer recovery who are ready to tackle some deeper issues as well as those who have been or are negatively impacted by someone else’s substance abuse. This could be a parent, spouse or child. Maybe someone is concerned about your drinking and you aren’t sure you have a problem or not sure you’re ready to stop or are sober and feeling stuck. Reach out for support.

I/we pay attention to "inner voices" and the body, while addressing relationships, resolving trauma , and learning resilience skills.
It is easy to feel overwhelmed and lose one's sense of True North. Issues and experiences from the past may require healing and integration. Current challenges may require more inner wisdom and resourcefulness than we can access on our own. Many people need support to resolve conflicts, deepen connections and expand their lives. Relationships require a solid sense of self, good boundaries, and compassion toward oneself and others, which all can be learned. Even without a religious affiliation, spiritual practices such as gratitude are often enriching. I value new insights, suggest homework and teach practical skills.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
