I work with emerging adults and adolescents trying to find their place in this world. If you or your child are struggling with self-esteem, life transitions, anxiety, phobias, PTSD, OCD , or other stress disorders, I can help! I practice with a holistic view of therapy - using the mind, body, and soul as part of the therapeutic process. Specifically, I bring solution-focused goals to therapy for behavioral changes that are not beneficial to long-term well-being.

I also specialize in treating tics, trichotillomania ( hair pulling ) and excoriation ( skin picking ) with Habit Reversal Training.
In any psychotherapy the relationship between the client and their therapist is of paramount importance. With that in mind, I prioritize getting to know each person that I work with in a meaningful way as we engage in the process of symptom reduction. I pride myself on being able to build comfortable discussion with adults, adolescents, and children and tailor communication to best fit each developmental stage. When working with families I ensure that each family members' concern is heard and work to join with each member while remaining focused on addressing the issue which brought them to treatment.

Reaching out to a professional takes courage. When struggles and unexpected challenges arise, it can lead to symptoms of anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, OCD , and many other psychological and emotional symptoms. Sometimes stress leads to compulsive behaviors, including over indulging in alcohol and substance misuse. We encourage self-exploration into the patterns that keep individuals stuck, and prevent them from moving forward. We help client's capitalize on their strengths to focus on reaching their highest potential.

"Each of us is born with the potential to be the best version of ourselves. For most of us, along the way, life can get in the way. Whether it's substances, relationships, anxiety or negative thoughts; we lose our way. We find ourselves muddling through what is meant to be a satisfying and uplifting journey. If you want to discover how to get back to that inborn potential; therapy may be the answer. I won't have all the answers, no one knows you better than you! I will help you uncover the answers that are true for you."

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

OCD is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
