My ideal client is someone open to the process of therapy. Someone who is willing to show up for themselves, and “put in the work”. My client may be someone dealing with anxiety, depression, or challenges of
ADHD
, such as Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria. My client may be feeling in a rut or “stuck” in personal aspects of their life. My client may be challenged by different phases and stages of life, by not feeling capable or feeling easily overwhelmed. They want to engage in therapy and work on achieving their personal goals in a space where they are seen, heard, validated and encouraged.

In addition to engaging in psychotherapy with individuals, couples and families, a significant component of my clinical expertise is in the assessment and treatment of child and adult
ADHD
, Autism Spectrum Conditions and Mood Disorders, as well as learning and behavioral issues in children.
As a Harvard trained psychologist, I work to use my education, experience, and passion for my profession to create a comfortable, caring enviroment for every individual I see. My initial focus is on understanding the unique ways in which each person thinks and feels about themselves and their life experiences. I then work with individuals to discover and change aspects of their thinking that have become ineffective; thoughts that lead to debilitating negative emotions or destructive behaviors. In every session I work to foster the open dialog and mutual respect needed to ensure a productive therapeutic relationship.

I specialize in psychological assessment and testing primarily for autism spectrum disorders and
ADHD
. I am trying to focus my practice on the assessment of young children as the younger they are diagnosed with autism, the sooner they can begin life-changing treatment. I am an excellent diagnostician and can help you figure out what is going on with your child. I have helped hundreds of children by diagnosing them correctly and connecting them with resources for treatment. At Aspire, we provide diagnosis and treatment utilizing ABA therapy.

I also work with a broad spectrum of adults and couples. I combine therapeutic play, mind-body and brain-based therapies, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral techniques to help children better understand their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Through the power of Play Therapy I address behavioral issues and help process stressful life events, divorce issues,
ADHD
, and anxiety with kids.
Life is filled with times of transition and times of change. This couldn't be more true than for the life of a child or an adolescent. School stressors, personal identity, family separations, forming healthy friendships, and an overwhelming desire for acceptance are all things that a child or adolescent may deal with regularly. In these moments it is crucial for a young person to feel understood and listened to in order to be helped. Coming alongside a young person in whatever place they may be residing in is where my heart resides. Many times this age group can be overlooked or misunderstood, but their needs still remain.

The connection one makes with their therapist is what makes or breaks the progress that can be made in therapy. I pride myself in my ability to connect with my clients. If you feel you can’t seem to find the right connection for yourself or your child, I’m the guy to call! I don't treat a diagnosis, disability, or disorder...I treat people. I believe anyone and everyone can benefit from the therapeutic process, if they put the necessary work in. Remember, a healthy mind can have a global impact on one's emotional and physical well being.

Hi there! I want to personally welcome you to the journey. I deeply believe that therapy is an intimate journey into the self. I followed my own inner calling to become a therapist and am honored to be able to do this work. I have a firm belief that experiencing life without developing your own meaning, being your most authentic self, and practicing presence daily is quite fruitless, joyless, and confusing. I help my clients move past their fears and get moving on their goals to be their best version of their best selves to live a more balance authentic life.

As a counselor, I have always been aware of the courage and openness a client needs to be able to seek support and engage in counseling services. I also understand how difficult it is to make therapeutic changes in one's life. I am humbled to be privileged to learn about a client's intimate struggles, and I take the depth of that relationship of respect, privacy, boundaries, and expectations very seriously. My ideal client is anyone open to counseling, receiving feedback, and willing to work together on developing action steps towards change and personal growth.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
