I am an addiction and trauma specialist with 15+ years of experience helping individuals, couples and families travel the road to recovery. I've worked as a sexual abuse case manager, drug and alcohol counselor, trauma group facilitator and military family consultant. I use an integrative approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to assist in the development of new, applicable coping skills, constructive processing and identification of concrete ways of managing after the therapeutic experience has ended. I hope that you'll allow me to help you and those most important to you journey towards wellness.

Psychotherapy is my dream job. I typically see individuals struggling with relational issues whether it be family or significant other and mood disorders (depression/anxiety). I listen and try to understand what a person needs in therapy; problem-solving, support, insight into life situations, difficult work situations, or personal growth and understanding. I work closely with the Gay/Lesbian population and do couples counseling.

My main focus of my practice is based on Judeo-Christian ethics, because all of life issues offer an opportunity for growth, I base my process of therapy on the therapeutic relationship. No special psychotherapy techniques, my goal for you, is to have a better handle on your current challenge. We incorporate sand trays, an expressive therapy with children or adults to create scenes of miniature worlds that reflect a person's inner thoughts, struggles, and issues.

” Whether you are questioning your alcohol and substance use or you are a family member who wants their loved one back, I can help.
With over 15 years of experience, I know that not everyone who gets a DUI is an alcoholic. I also know that some people who just smoke pot may have something more going on than stress. That is why I partner with individuals and families and blend CBT, neuroscience and personal guidance to break the chains of substance abuse.

Like physical pain, emotional pain signals that something needs our attention. It catalyzes new levels of insight & growth. I believe the deeper the emotional disturbance, the older the wound. The unhealed parts of ourselves will influence every aspect of our lives. If you're ready to do the work, I'm here to guide you through it. I offer a unique approach to therapy, incorporating decades of professional & personal experience with spiritual psychology. I specialize in addiction/recovery, anxiety, depression, and family of origin issues, and have been serving the Bucks County community for decades.

I specialize in working with clients who struggle with co-occurring disorders, Bipolar Disorders, and substance use disorders.
I work alongside my clients to help them feel seen and heard, achieve their goals, and live their best possible lives. It is very important to me that I provide a place that feels safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive, which is the foundation of therapy and helps facilitate change. The goals that people work on in therapy can involve anything that is important to them- learning healthier ways to express anger, finding new ways to cope with the effects of past traumas, stabilizing mood episodes (e.g., mania, depression), maintaining and establishing sobriety, improving their relationship with themself and others, and more.

Substance Use Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
