My style is best fitted for adolescents and adults.
“In any given moment, we have two options: to step forward into growth or step back into safety.” My ideal client is tired of “playing it safe” and is open to the newness that change brings. My ideal client is not only searching for a way out of their situation, but they are ready to gain the tools needed to improve their quality of life. Therapy is not about being told what to do, it’s finding a great fit with a skilled clinician who will join you in your journey to wellness. Rather than trying to fix things on your own, why not collaborate with someone who celebrates your individuality and incorporates it in your healing process?

My faith in Christ is the foundation of my life and guides the way I approach healing and restoration. I believe therapy is a sacred space where compassion, grace, and truth come together. I understand how hard it is to trust someone with your story, especially when facing anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship struggles. As a trauma-informed therapist, I work with individuals, couples, and families, thoughtfully integrating faith and evidence-based care for those who desire it.

I am a practicing Gestalt therapist as well as a Registered Play therapist who works with adults and children that have experienced trauma and/or abuse, and present with symptoms of PDSD, anxiety, depression. When working with children I work closely with the parents or caregivers for best results. As a Gestalt therapist my focus is present focused and on the whole person (thoughts, feelings, body/movement.) Together we create an environment where the individual finds a deeper awareness about themselves that can increase their choices about how they interact with others and live their life.

Perhaps you are a teen or young adult struggling with sports performance anxiety or academics due to executive dysfunction?
In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am a Certified Personal Trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine and a strong believer in the mind/body connection. How we care for our bodies plays a significant role in our emotional well-being. I believe that even small improvements in daily healthy habits can impact us in a big way.

Hello and thank you for visiting my profile! I'm grateful for the opportunity to share about my journey in becoming a licensed counselor. I hold counseling licenses in both South Carolina and Pennsylvania and have been providing individual, family, and couple's counseling services since 2019. While I see client's with a variety of concerns, symptoms, and diagnoses, I am passionate about assisting those experiencing ADHD, grief, and trauma-related issues, circumstances that often leave people feeling isolated, misunderstood, and stuck. My desire is to be a beacon of hope in the midst of often dark and complex places.

My approach brings 36 years of professional experience, often a stylish hat, and two sometimes noisy corgis to the therapy relationship. I am interested in working with people who seek guidance in finding personal meaning and maximizing their quality of life. I operate from a strengths-based perspective that views my client as a unique person with the capacity for change rather than some "ism" or diagnosis. I prefer not to dwell with people who are "stuck in a victim role" and see themselves as powerless. No conversations are too difficult nor off limits. My perspective is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy and existentialism.

Sometimes life just feels like too much. Maybe anxiety, stress, or self-doubt have become constant companions. Relationships might feel complicated, or you’re feeling stuck trying to figure out what comes next. Whatever brought you here, know this: you don’t have to carry it alone.

Welcome to Chill Young Adult (CYA)! Our clinicians have extensive experience working with young adults; we know young adulthood is a time of change (graduation, careers, college, new homes, new friends, etc.) and that change (even positive change) can often lead to stress. We also know that finding the right supports during times of transition can be difficult, and we hope to help with this. If you're a young adult (18-30) and you're struggling or would benefit from additional support—whether short-term, long-term or anything in between—our therapists would love the opportunity to meet and work with you to see how they can help.

The beauty of life can be hidden by the demands of time and resources. Thoughts of helplessness, frustration, and worry can be difficult to navigate. Constantly thinking about events or feelings that have had major impacts on our lives can prevent us from reaching our goals in life. To me reaching out for help to work through personal difficulties is one of the most important steps a person can take to begin to implement changes. I believe in the authenticity of the therapeutic relationship and how it is a source of strength for change.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
