I am committed to guiding individuals toward inspired changes in a safe place without judgment. For over twenty years I've helped individuals with anxiety, depression, personality concerns, and relationship concerns. Each of us has unique needs, but can find new mindfulness and empowering self-awareness. Mindfulness can be a state of liberating awareness and also an active practice. It can promote psychological flexibility, a return to the present moment and the resolving of complex trauma -related problems. In the words of Clarice Lispector, "Life is for anyone who is brave enough to risk and humble enough to learn."

However, I have developed a special interest in depression, anxiety, relationship problems, trauma , intimate partner violence and substance use disorders.
Many of us have gone through times in which we feel stuck, unmotivated, or not feeling as if we have fulfilled our potential. Psychotherapy brings hope for a life of greater fulfillment and living up to one's potential. It provides us with a space where insight becomes possible and to experience the opportunity for a relationship that is dedicated to knowing you deeply. It is my belief that we work side by side on your journey to uncover your motivations, fears and hopes so that you can feel empowered in your path towards finding your authentic self.

stress, trauma , anxiety, depression, infertility, parenting, relationship, and more).
Life can be very stressful, and different things may bring someone to therapy. I provide a safe place to explore and learn, as I offer my compassion and support through your journey. I have a lot of experience with stress and/or trauma , as well as relationship issues. I tend to be gentle, compassionate, offer solutions and homework assignments, but realize deep down you have the answers, and are hard wired to heal under the right circumstances. I see primarily individuals and couples due to my schedule being strictly daytime (business hours)

My focus of interest is providing individual treatment for those who are experiencing anxiety and/or depression as a result of trauma or stressful situations/relationships/ events/childhoods. I believe all humans have a universal need to feel safe and secure. A variety of long-term symptoms can result when our safety is violated or threatened, and these experiences create "wounds" that do not often heal themselves, especially if they occur in childhood. If traditional talk therapy has not worked for you and you feel you need to dig deeper, I can help with that.

Also, I’m dedicated to helping individuals, and their family members, who suffer with substance use disorders and complex trauma .
Change can come in many forms in our lives. It might come suddenly like a tidal wave, or gradually like a slow dripping leak. It might come in the form of devastating tragedy, difficult choices, broken relationships, or even new opportunities. Although change can be extremely hard, it can also be extremely necessary. Experiencing anything great in life requires us to challenge ourselves to push past our comfort zones. However, we oftentimes avoid change out of fear of the unknown, or self-doubt. Other times, we don’t realize the need for change until we experience pain.

My specialty areas include trauma -informed care, mental health well-being, substance use disorders, and marriage & family counseling.
When people feel weighed down by the heaviness that seems to consume them, providing a sense of space and reconstruction that allows a shift to occur is vital. In that shift, I hope to provide a supportive environment where they will feel that weight move and become the foundation on which they can rebuild their life. This heaviness is a unilateral condition experienced by all human beings. The secret is to create a skillset that permits the transition from weight being carried to weight being conquered. In my opinion, there is no ideal client, however, there is a blueprint of individual success for everyone.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
