*ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS* I don't believe that therapy is just about the destination - it's also about the journey. How do you get from where you are now to where you want to be? The path we take in the therapeutic process should involve learning about yourself, growing into the goals you set for yourself, and evolving to create positive, lifelong changes you can carry with you even after the journey in the office ends. While therapy can be a huge step for some people, it is not a step you have to take by yourself. We will experience it and walk through the process together until you've reached where you want to be.

Making that first call feels like failing. You have "no time for therapy"--you are already spread thin. You've tried everything, but nothing seems to be working. And even when it does, it's only for a moment. You're ready to feel like you are thriving instead of merely surviving. It's a little scary to think about diving into the things weighing you down though, right? Ask yourself this (and be honest!): "Can I keep going like I am now? And if I do, what will that look like?" Change occurs when--despite the discomfort and not quite knowing how you'll get there--all you know is that you can't keep doing what you're doing. I can help.

Life can be very stressful, and different things may bring someone to therapy. I provide a safe place to explore and learn, as I offer my compassion and support through your journey. I have a lot of experience with stress and/or trauma, as well as relationship issues. I tend to be gentle, compassionate, offer solutions and homework assignments, but realize deep down you have the answers, and are hard wired to heal under the right circumstances. I see primarily individuals and couples due to my schedule being strictly daytime (business hours)

*Accepting new clients!* You are so tired of merely existing. You want to find self-acceptance, but sometimes you struggle with knowing what that "self" even is. You feel like you don't belong anywhere and that everyone around you has abandoned you. You feel like you are doing all of this alone. You are in pain and no one around you even knows--because you refuse to let them see it. Or you don't want to be a burden. But you know deep down you can't keep going like this, because you're a pressure cooker and you just need some relief. Or some guidance. Or SOMETHING. You may feel like you face rejection everywhere--but not here.

Some specific issues I have worked with would be kids affected by domestic violence, working with kids who have Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), and working through trauma in general. I have also worked with adults through issues of anxiety, depression, grief, and more. My approach to therapy is tailored to you, and the recognized best practices. Whatever the issue, my goal is to help guide you to the peace of mind you are searching for.

Many of us have gone through times in which we feel stuck, unmotivated, or not feeling as if we have fulfilled our potential. Psychotherapy brings hope for a life of greater fulfillment and living up to one's potential. It provides us with a space where insight becomes possible and to experience the opportunity for a relationship that is dedicated to knowing you deeply. It is my belief that we work side by side on your journey to uncover your motivations, fears and hopes so that you can feel empowered in your path towards finding your authentic self.

My ideal client is someone who is looking to “find themselves” or who feels that who they are “on the outside” is different than who they are “inside.” Perhaps they're looking to find more meaning in life, personally, professionally, or both. They might not know where to start, in terms of being happier and more fulfilled, but that is their general goal. They want to grow as a person, but perhaps need help with motivation, or implementation. They're in the midst of, or foresee major life changes, and feel challenged or overwhelmed. They might need to talk, and to learn skills to help them adapt to the changes in their lives.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
