My ideal clients are adolescents, young adults, and adults struggling with substance use and/or mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder. Many feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, often repeating patterns that no longer serve them. As someone in recovery with my own mental health experience, I offer a real, nonjudgmental space. I help clients build coping skills, increase self-awareness, find stability, and create healthier patterns so they can move toward a more balanced, fulfilling, and meaningful life.

Most of the people I work with come to me after trying multiple approaches that haven’t worked—and they’re frustrated that nothing has led to real change. They may be dealing with ADHD, autism, anxiety, challenging behavior, or burnout, along with difficulties with focus, motivation, and emotional regulation. Some are parents seeking help for their child, while others are students and adults managing increasing academic, work, and life demands. With experience across clinical and school settings, I help them move forward by providing clear direction, practical strategies, and a structured path toward meaningful progress.

I provide therapy for individuals, couples, families, adults and children. I have worked with many different clients providing the support needed for change. My experience at various social service agencies, at a child and family clinic; and in a college clinic has given me the opportunity to work with many adults, children, adolescents and families. I find my training in marriage and family therapy is particularly helpful for my clients in that it helps individuals better understand their relationships with themselves and others in their life. I regularly look at the systemic process in relationships, and at attachment issues.

I work with adults, teens, and children navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. Right from the start, we can establish goals together, real ones that matter to you. I try to gain an understanding of the full landscape of your life-your relationships, your environment, where you’ve been and where you are headed, because healing doesn’t happen in a vacuum, it happens in the messy and beautiful context of actual living.

As a new dad, you're overjoyed, but also put high standards and demands on yourself. If you are feeling irritable, "invisible", or lost then you are not alone. You deserve support with everything you're carrying. Men often face huge internal shifts during fatherhood, but feel pressure to stay strong, keep quiet, and "push through". Attending therapy is a decision and process that shows strength and leads to positive changes for you and your family as a whole. Whether you're struggling with stress, anger, or the fear of not being enough, therapy can offer a space to make sense of it all without judgment.

Waiting lists are long, things become urgent, and good help can be hard to find. If you or someone you know is struggling with issues like depression, anxiety, academic struggles, life transitions, obsessive compulsive disorder, ADHD, self injury, sexual orientation, gender identity, or suicidal ideation please reach out to set up an appointment or brief introductory virtual meeting. Weekend and evening appointment times are available. I know first hand how scary it can be to watch an adolescent you love struggle and suffer.

I've served clients who have struggled with different challenges including relationship troubles, trauma, grief, substance addiction, suicidal thoughts, self-esteem issues, depression and anxiety. Whether they know exactly what their needs are, or they have no idea where to start, my clients typically need a safe space to place their concerns, fears, questions, and stresses. Within a few sessions, my clients typically discover that they need guidance, reassurance, tools, extra perspective, accountability, or some sort of roadmap that makes them feel like they can cope with their challenges better that if they were solo.

Life can be hard sometimes. Just when you think that things are going well, anxiety and depression can strike at a moment's notice, leaving you feeling lost, confused, and not sure where to turn. Your mood begins to sink, as you try desperately to stay afloat, only to face more adversity with each tug. You begin to cast judgment on yourself, lose hope, and fill your mind with self-deprecating banter. Health problems - old and new - may complicate the picture, leaving you feeling even more vulnerable to life's misfortunes.

I specialize in working with adults experiencing issues around anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual identity, relationships, life stage transitions, self-esteem, and more. I recognize the difficulty in changing patterns and behaviors that are no longer serving you and I believe the therapeutic relationship is key in creating desired changes. I place a great deal of importance on examining macro factors that may be impacting behaviors and emotions instead of blaming you for acting or feeling certain ways.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
