When anxiety, depression, or major life transitions begin to weigh heavily, it can feel exhausting to carry everything on your own. Many people seek therapy when stress becomes constant, roles shift, relationships feel strained, or daily pressures feel overwhelming. The clients I support often come in while navigating cultural expectations, family responsibilities, and the emotional weight of always needing to stay strong for others. I provide a supportive space to find clarity, restore balance, and build tools for moving forward with confidence and peace.

Let’s be real: being a person is hard. That’s an easy enough fact to acknowledge, but the truly difficult part is deciding when and where to put your vulnerabilities on display. While committing to the therapeutic process can feel unpredictable and is not without its messy bits, taking a step towards prioritizing yourself and your wellbeing is an act of incredible courage.

Trauma is stored mentally and physically inside of us. It’s not something you can just "get over". You may try to forget it, but this will only provide, at best, temporary relief. The path to healing is not through removing the pain of the trauma, but rather through understanding and developing a healthy relationship with it. This isn’t easy, and can often be long and frightening process, but it can lead to a reclaimed sense of self-worth and a healthier and more fulfilling relationship with the world around you. If any of this resonates with you, we may work well together on your journey to healing and wholeness.

You’ve spent a long time wondering if you were just missing something. Maybe you’ve worked hard to keep up — at school, at work, in relationships — but things still feel harder than they should. You’ve been told to stay calm, get organized, try harder. But deep down, you’re asking: is it ADHD? Autism? Trauma? Or something else entirely? You’re not broken or making excuses — and you deserve answers. My work is about helping people finally understand what’s really going on, with clarity and care.

I work with queer folks who carry anxiety, exhaustion, and self-doubt from setting their needs and identities aside in the name of belonging. Maybe you’ve resorted to bending, explaining, and smoothing things over so others can “get it.” You deserve to be fully seen and embraced as you. You want relationships where you don’t have to dull your spark or earn love and acceptance. Maybe you’re worried that losing a relationship means losing a whole community. You don’t need anyone’s permission to be yourself, but sometimes unmasking just feels too vulnerable. You’re ready for queer JOY and to embrace it without apology.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.
What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.
How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.
How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
