I utilize an integrative model, drawing from relational, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, EMDR, and attachment based approaches.
Many find themselves at a point in their lives where external support is necessary to navigate life's challenges. My clients seek therapy for a variety of reasons. Some may come to therapy to deal with a specific struggle, such as anxiety or depression, while others initiate therapy during a difficult life transition. Even positive transitions, such as getting a new job or starting a new relationship can be stressful. Together, we will merge our resources to address these challenges in a safe environment by exploring patterns, processing events from the past, and creating plans for change in the future.

My clinical practice is informed by principles of humanistic psychology with the following focuses: psychodynamics, cultural relational process, and trauma-focused framework. I believe in the power of therapeutic discourses that facilitate clients to discover unspoken thoughts and emotions related to their issues. I help clients to make meaningful connections and integrate thoughts, feelings, and actions given a situated culture and context. Additionally, I help clients explore meanings and patterns from a variety of roles they may identify with while developing creative mechanisms to respond to contextual and systematic stressors.

IFS, ACT, psychodynamic and narrative therapy are a few of the modalities I use frequently.
Maybe you are looking for a sense of peace and self-understanding. Maybe you struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, chronic pain, or relational conflict. Whatever your circumstances, in therapy, your hurts might transform. Inspiration might whirl in and self-trust begin. I call my practice “Sky” because the sky holds the weather—we can’t predict the weather, but we can choose our reactions to it and our actions within it. I work with adults of all backgrounds and ages, and with couples who are invested in understanding each other’s feelings. Professionals, parents, creatives—all are welcome here.

My past experience includes crisis management, survivor advocacy, trauma psychoeducation, supportive counseling with folks who experienced sexual violence during incarceration, mindfulness group work, and community outreach. If you experienced sexual violence in the state of PA, ask me about ways to help cover your costs.

Anxiety, low self-esteem, depression and/or co-dependency can get in the way of having confidence in yourself or getting what you really want in relationships or even loving yourself. I'll "roll up my sleeves" and help find real answers and new pathways that will make a difference. The chronic cycle of trying to deal with it and feeling like you are getting no where can end. I will help you feel better and be more of what you want to be.

Offering Pro Bono services as a master's student at the University of Pittsburgh! Life can be complicated and challenging, and no one should have to navigate those experiences alone. While counseling often involves meaningful and serious conversations, I also believe that laughter and humor can be powerful tools in the healing process. I try to bring a balance of empathy, curiosity, and occasional humor into the counseling room. My ideal client comes in with openness to the process to work together to help you reach your goals.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
