I also have specialized training in working with those experiencing grief , as well as in couples counseling and group therapy.
03/20/23 - Dr. Corp has no openings. - I strive to make therapy as collaborative as possible. While my work is informed by a person-centered, warm, and authentic approach, I try to flexibly meet the needs of clients with a range of presentations. I tend to be focused on fostering meaning and discovering one's genuine self, so those who are highly insightful or want to improve their insight tend to enjoy my approach most. I often help clients reflect on past and present experiences and relationships to foster a deeper understanding of how their concerns arose and how to fundamentally improve, not just temporarily manage, their lives

With counseling and assessment, I aim to help clients work through issues related to career, education, and mental health aspects of their lives, including: stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, career or major exploration/indecision, toxic workplaces, bad bosses/coworkers, workplace bullying, forced career change, job loss , and end-of-career transition.
We each are journeying a long arc of discovery about who we are, what we can do, how we relate, where we are valued, and why we matter. Our career and education help us chart the course of our identity, and they can create fantastic side trips, unexpected detours, and unfortunate layovers. I work with clients who are navigating the challenges, decisions, and transitions related to their changing landscape of work and school. Like a colorful sunrise, I am energized to work with clients who hope to explore and understand the options for mental wellness available to them as learners, professionals, entrepreneurs, and self-advocates.

I offer individual and group counseling to adults that span a wide range of mental health services from (but not limited to) psycho-educational and prevention programs to therapy for depression and bipolar disorders, anxiety, grief and loss , stress management and trauma.
I believe the symptoms and contributing causes of a person's problems are multifaceted and multilayered because humans are bio-psycho-social-spiritual beings. It seems that by the time clients come for counseling, they are dealing with contributing symptoms from more than one of these elements. My goal is to help you reveal and unravel the complexities of your individual life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

I have professional experience working with concerns relating to depression, anxiety, emotion regulation, anger, grief , and trauma.
We all have experiences that shape us into who we are as a person, how we feel, what we think, etc. Often times these experiences can leave us with questions, doubt, and a desire to further explore ourselves and find answers to live a more fulfilling life. As your Therapist, my goal is to meet you where you are and support you in a way that allows you to explore these challenging thoughts and experiences in a safe and effective way. Together, we can identify your strengths and use this as a guide to your treatment success.

I believe that every human being has the ability to be the best person they can be. Everyone struggles at different times in life, some unfortunately, more than others complicated by circumstances, situations and relationships. I work with the understanding that we get stuck around negative emotions that we tend to avoid, as they are uncomfortable, unwanted and painful. I help people explore what their underlying core emotional issues are and help them clarify how they are avoiding them, inviting them to face these uncomfortable emotional experiences and move toward them, stretching their comfort zone.

Mental health symptoms like depression, anxiety, anger, stress, etc., are just that- symptoms! These symptoms come from somewhere in your life, it is your bodies way of telling you "something's not right" or "there needs to be a change here." It is my passion to help one figure out what these symptoms are trying to tell them. After we understand the message we will work to build knowledge, mindsets, skills, and other insights to continue growth and prevent those symptoms from returning. Or reduce the impact they have on ones life.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
