Grief Therapists in Springfield, PA
When you work with Boundary Span, LLC, you are the center of your treatment, the expert of your own life. We can help facilitate the work, often systemic in nature, while working towards your personal and/or professional goals. We may pull from past lived experiences within family and community systems, as we map out the road ahead. This same "roadmap" can be true for therapeutic clients, clinical supervisees, as well as agencies and corporations seeking services, and also whether a child, adolescent or adult client. There are parallels in the work. You may have various aspects of life in which you feel "stuck". Come break free!

I specialize in working with those who are struggling with life transitions, trauma/PTSD, relationship issues, loss and grief, terminal illness, infidelity, abuse, chronic pain, spiritual pain, codependency, loneliness, depression and anxiety.
I am a L.P.C. with a MS degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling. I believe that it is helpful to bring your spiritual beliefs into the healing process. Starting psychotherapy is the beginning of feeling at home with yourself. It is a place where you can feel safe, grounded and secure, as you explore the difficult areas in your life that you may not want to face alone. Therapy can help you identify unhealthy thinking, and break destructive patterns, so you can make better choices. It also helps you to discover your own inner strengths that can bring deeper healings from within. We are all a work in progress!

I currently work with individuals (18+) experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, perinatal concerns (pregnancy, pregnancy loss, trying to conceive, postpartum anxiety/depression, scary thoughts, adjustment to parenthood), family conflict, relational challenges, parenting stress, work/life balance, life transitions, and health-related concerns.
Looking for a therapist is a courageous first step and making yourself vulnerable with a stranger can feel intimidating. I consider it a great privilege to sit with others, listen to their stories, and walk alongside them as they make steps towards change. I am highly empathetic, down to earth, & non-judgmental. I use relational and collaborative approaches in therapy and draw from cognitive behavioral techniques, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness based strategies.

Life after COVID has left many people feeling emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply not like themselves. I’ve seen this across all stages of life—from adolescents and young adults struggling with pressure and uncertainty, to couples feeling strained, to older adults facing changes that can feel confusing or isolating. In a world where we are constantly connected and absorbing information, it’s understandable that so many people are struggling emotionally in ways they never expected.

Together we'll work collaboratively to identify and re-frame unhelpful thought patterns, belief systems and behaviors that contribute to mental health struggles, poor self-image, relationship issues, grief and loss and destructive behaviors like unhealthy coping.
Welcome. I'm Jeanette DeSilva, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with 16 years dedicated to walking alongside individuals on their journey to lasting freedom from issues such as anxiety and depression, destructive behaviors and addiction or those who are just wanting help developing a deeper spiritual life and rebuild their relationship with God.
In our work together, I integrate the evidence-based principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The core idea of CBT is that our thoughts significantly influence our feelings and behaviors.

Women in postpartum, dealing with infertility, raising a family while trying to balance everything else life brings, women with unprocessed traumas, grief, etc.
Ever have the feeling as if you are just going through the motions of your life, or waiting for the day to be over so you can go to sleep, just to wake up and do it all over again? Are you tired of the "hamster wheel" constantly spinning, wondering how on earth you are supposed to incorporate self-care along with everything else you are responsible for? As women, we have so many pressures and expectations placed on us that are often unrealistic. This leads to burn out and feels like we are living our lives for everyone else except ourselves.

Everyone sees you as capable. You are the strong one, the reliable one, the one who keeps it together no matter what. You learned early that your needs came second. Now your mind never fully rests. You replay conversations, anticipate worst case scenarios, and stay braced for something to go wrong. Anxiety, trauma, or depression run quietly beneath the surface. You are exhausted from surviving. You do not want to just function anymore. You want to feel safe, steady, and finally at ease in your own life.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
