Living with OCD and anxiety can feel incredibly overwhelming, as they often fuel worry and distress. You might find yourself caught in a cycle of thoughts, images, and feelings that simply don't align with who you are or what you truly desire. To cope with the intense anxiety and discomfort, you've likely developed behaviors, rituals, or mental review strategies. While these once brought a sense of peace, they may now be holding you back from enjoying life to the fullest. The good news? This doesn't have to be your permanent reality. Through therapy, you can gain the skills to effectively manage discomfort and anxiety.

My name is Stacey Simpson and I created The Life Connection (TLC) over 28 years ago, offering counseling, coaching and classes to help people create their best life.
I love being a counselor and a teacher and have worked with thousands of clients and students. I like helping people figure out what they want from their life and how to make the changes and tap into the resources to make that happen. To learn how to create balance in every area. One of my favorite expressions is people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. The reason I became a counselor is to help make a difference one person at a time.

I find it incredibly meaningful to support teenagers as they navigate the complexities of growing up in today’s world.
It can be incredibly hard to recognize when you need support-and even harder to take that first step to reach out. One of the biggest hurdles is often making that first appointment with a therapist. So if you've found your way to my profile, you've already taken an important step toward your goals, and I'm truly grateful for your trust. Whether you're seeking healing, growth, introspection or transformation, I'm here to walk alongside you. My training in different modalities have allowed me to tailor and personalize my approach.

How do we find balance in our lives? We look at the stressors in our life. What can we control and what can we change? This can be a challenge to accomplish. Most of believe on some level that we can control the things that are happening in our life whether it is with our relationships, our job or home life. The truth is we can only control what is in front of us on any given day. We can however change how we see what is happening in our life.
My goal is to help you to understand the why and how so that you can make the changes you want in your life. I want to support you in having the very best version of yourself.

You’re not falling apart - you’re just running at full speed with no place to slow down. Many of the people I work with are successful on paper: smart, capable, and doing a lot right. But behind the meetings, deadlines, and late-night mental checklists, there’s often a quiet sense of exhaustion or disconnection that’s easy to ignore until it starts spilling over. My clients are young professionals and established leaders who want to manage life's stressors, burnout, and decision fatigue without losing their edge.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
