Do you feel like you are going through life’s struggles alone, unsupported and with no direction? Balancing the demands of life, work or school in today's fast paced and changing world can leave us feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, depressed, lonely or even angry. As children we sometimes develop behavioral strategies to face life's challenges or trauma's that as adults, simply no longer fit with how we imagine or intend ourselves to be. Understanding the nature and origin of destructive patterns and their consequences, addressing current challenges and long standing issues, gaining insight and learning the skills necessary for change is what successful therapy is about.

The funny thing about life's hurts, they generally do not just get better on their own. Running from a problem is a race we will never win. My goal is to create a warm safe and relaxed place for you to explore, to discuss, to learn and maybe laugh. The outcome is for you to feel empowered in your life and to have HOPE. Changing or healing often require learning new skills so my approach is as much about coaching as it is about counseling. My primary counseling modes are Cognitive Reframing and REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy). Together we create the tools for HOPE that are custom made for you.

I am taking new clients as of November 2025. I have partnered with a colleague, Frank Bienkowski to create a new practice, True to You Counseling and Coaching. Over my 20+ years in the field of mental health I’ve come to believe most people are seeking to understand their place and purpose in this challenging world. Navigating things like relationships, finances, careers, family, and trying to make the right choices all while having many unexpected events thrown in can be destabilizing. When you feel lost and have more questions than answers, I am here to help you sort through the overwhelm.

I believe in empowering a greater sense of responsibility so a person can manage and cope with life's trials and difficulties. If you are an individual struggling with depression or anxiety, a couple seeking a greater bond after some form of crisis, or a family in need of resolving various forms of conflict, then I am confident I can assist you. I also have done a lot of work with military veterans. I chose this line of work in mid-life. My other real life experience includes: a dairy farmer, a quality control inspector in manufacturing, a high school teacher, and an MCSE in the computer field. I know what it is like out there.

Accepting New Clients for Couples Therapy (session availability during the day)
I enjoy understanding people’s life stories and how those experiences shape who they are and how they connect. In couples therapy, I bring curiosity to each partner’s inner world and to the space between them. My goal is to build a trusting relationship where both people feel safe to explore what hasn’t yet been fully understood—within themselves and their relationship. I help couples put words to complex experiences and make sense of the impact of their past, pain, and fears—individually and together.

All of us are trying to get somewhere, to find meaning, love, and fulfillment, to make our hopes a reality. Yet sometimes no matter how hard we try, we can't change our lives in ways that we want. What we don't realize is that our very efforts to keep things together can actually keep us asleep to new horizons. Maybe this sounds familiar to you: You feel stuck in your drinking or drug use, your relationship, pornography, or other sexual behaviors that are causing problems you desperately want to wake up from.

Infidelity Therapists
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.
How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.
How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.
How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
