According to the National Center for PTSD, 6 out of every 10 men and 5 out of every 10 women will experience at least one trauma in their lives. Traumatic experiences can leave individuals feelings scared, overwhelmed and ashamed. Many do not seek help. We as individuals are hard wired to bounce back from bad stuff in our path. Recovery from the past is possible.

I specialize in helping couples and individuals develop "connection" in their marriages and relationships. To illustrate, your partner seems "distant" lately- so you seek reassurance. Instead of providing comfort, he or she "pulls away" in anticipation of triggering an argument. In turn, your insecurity grows yet bigger. Over time, the more one mate seeks "closeness," the more the other "distances." Partners become "stuck" in painful "circles" such as "Pursue-Withdraw." Both are hurt by each others "criticism" or "coldness"- and unintentionally trigger their mates' invisible "raw spots." Even if identified, "vulnerabilities" are difficult to discuss constructively without a "translator" (therapist).

My therapeutic approach blends EMDR and parts work (IFS), creating a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their feelings, thoughts, sensations, and experiences.
Does this sound familiar? You’re constantly juggling demands, pushing yourself to meet others’ expectations, yet feeling drained and unseen. Setting boundaries feels difficult, and expressing your needs even more so. Caught in cycles of overthinking and self-doubt, you often feel different or out of place. Exhaustion lingers, but rest never feels like an option. Instead, you find yourself zoning out—scrolling, binge-watching, or shopping—just to catch a moment of quiet. If any of this resonates, you’re not alone, and support is within reach.

Rooted in a trauma-informed perspective and supported by EMDR training, my work gently guides clients toward uncovering how survival strategies & old behaviors that once protected them may now be holding them back.
My background includes years of experience in addiction recovery settings, where I’ve supported clients through sober curiosity, early sobriety, harm reduction, relapse prevention, and long-term healing. I understand addiction not as a moral failing, but as a response to pain made more complicated by the intricacies of the brain.

I work collaboratively with you, informed by training in EMDR, IFS, and CBT and experience working with clients struggling with symptoms related to trauma such as depression, anxiety, and dissociation.
Do you ever wonder, "Why do I remember an event from long ago so vividly and still get upset?" Or "Why do I behave that way? That's not like me". Our behaviors, thoughts, feelings, and emotions are not random and meaningless, but hold important information that guides us through life. We all have experienced events that we would rather not think about again, but unfortunately, those are often the memories, body sensations, and emotions that inform who we love, how we parent, or even where we work.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
