My counseling approach is grounded in the non-pathologizing understanding that thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are often adaptive responses to lived experiences. Healing isn't about fixing what's broken, but helping the nervous system discern when that protection is still needed and when it's safe to respond differently. Depending on your needs and goals, our work may include a combination of talk therapy and experiential approaches such as EMDR and Coherence Therapy. These neurobiology-informed methods support lasting healing by changing how we store memories and the meanings we've made of them.

Sometimes the hardest parts of ourselves are the ones we most need space to understand. Therapy can be a place to slow down, explore those experiences, and reconnect with your authentic self. My counseling style is relational, collaborative, and guided by your unique lived experience.

In specific terms, I integrate existential philosophies, Lacanian theory & other psychodynamic modalities like schema therapy.
You deserve a space where you are free from empty promises of "healing" or this week’s new buzzwords. Naturally, I like to keep things simple up front. My work with folks typically focuses on some combination of High Intelligence/Giftedness, Autism/ADHD, and OCD. Often, these are paired with Depression, Anxiety, and/or trauma. I also tend to work with those who identify as LGBTQIA+. I find that a crucial part of working with the folks I do is being able to “just get” a lot of the shame, struggle, and frustration they carry, which I feel I can do quite well both intuitively/personally and professionally.

Approaches include Attachment Theory, Schema Therapy, and brain development.
Recalling and discovering old memories and feelings--and sharing them--is part of the process of change. This integrates the past with the present, and your emotional self with your logical self. The goal is to identify and resolve old belief systems that once worked, but now interfere with your happiness as an adult.

People seek therapy either because they feel stuck in patterns they don't fully understand — or they understand their patterns but can't seem to affect change despite their insight. Whether the source is an imprint of painful past experiences, nervous system dysregulation, or an invisible ceiling in your life, what you want is the same: to understand the architecture beneath your experience and change it at the root. Using depth psychology, somatic work, and cognitive restructuring, I identify the patterns shaping your experience and deliberately replace them. The goal is to move from insight to lived, enduring change.

Schema Therapy
How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy is based on the idea that maladaptive thought patterns formed in childhood—that other people can never be relied on, for example—can interfere with healthy functioning in adulthood. Accordingly, schema therapy works by directly targeting such unhealthy schemas, identifying their consequences, and replacing them with more adaptive ways of thinking. To this end, schema therapists aim to “reparent” the client by offering what they didn’t get in childhood—validation, for instance, or compassion—to reorient their worldview.
Is schema therapy evidence-based?
Schema therapy is still considered relatively new, and research on its efficacy is still in progress. However, some studies have concluded that it can be effective at treating certain mental health conditions, most notably personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder. Evidence for its efficacy in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD is promising but less conclusive, and experts warn that much of the existing research is of low quality.
Is schema therapy a type of CBT?
Schema therapy is based on many principles of CBT, most notably the process of recognizing and challenging maladaptive thought patterns. But because schema therapy also draws from other approaches, including psychoanalysis and Gestalt therapy, it is not considered a form of CBT. It also typically delves deeper into the client’s childhood than does CBT.
How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy does not call for a set number of sessions and is instead open-ended, with the treatment timeline depending on the client’s primary concern(s), progress, and preferences. Treatment that lasts between six months and two years is common, though many clients will start to see progress much earlier than that.
