Whether you are looking for healing, growth, or change- everyone deserves a space to feel seen, and heard. I will meet you wherever the start line is for you- and be your support through the non- linear journey that is recovery. Whether it's learning to sit with the discomfort of difficult emotions, strengthening your positive coping skills, or learning to challenge your negative thoughts- we will work together. "No two eating disorders are the same. No two individuals are the same. No two paths to recovery are the same. But everyone's strength to reach recovery is the same." - Brittany Burgunder

One of my specialties is family therapy with adolescents and their parents. I enjoy supporting the bridge of communication between the generational differences, and helping each family member feel heard and seen. I work with the philosophy that we don't have to agree with one another to have compassion for one other. I see individuals, couples and families. I work with children as young as 6 years old. If you are seeking parenting support for your child/children, I offer a blended approach to supporting you based on where each specific child is in their development.

You do not need a diagnosis of ADHD, anxiety or depression to benefit from therapy. Life can be hard enough without barriers at every turn. Constant challenges within a child’s education system, adolescents unhealthy social media habits, difficult relationships, and even from time to time conflict within the family can cause stress. Stress can explode in detrimental ways and times when not fully treated. Together, we can help break down life’s barriers so you and your child can achieve their full potential.

My passion is to help individuals see the best in themselves. I inspire with an easy going, caring style to create a supportive environment. Our daily lives can be overwhelming with too many commitments and lacking in emotional support. Too often we feel unheard; our thoughts are clouded in self criticism; and we are stuck in patterns that are self defeating. I provide an integrative approach to treatment allowing you to share your story, develop healthy and supportive thoughts, and create a lifestyle that supports your mind and body.

Hi! I'm Brittany, a neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist. I offer a safe space for all, as we work collaboratively within a calm, supportive and non-judgmental environment. It would be a privilege to work with you, as I utilize my therapeutic approach to gain a better understanding of yourself, how you relate and navigate the interpersonal relationships in your life, your environment, or however you choose to utilize your therapy. I also believe it is imperative to view each person through a trauma-informed lens, while respecting their background, where traumatic experiences likely left an imprint behind.

I see clients for individual psychoanalytic/psychodynamic therapy at my Squirrel Hill office, with daytime appointments available Tuesday through Friday.
You don’t have to keep holding it all together alone. Whether you’re navigating burnout, relationship patterns that won’t budge, or the emotional impact of neurodivergence, therapy offers a space to slow down and listen to the parts of you that are often overlooked. I work with people who appear "fine" on the surface but feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of who they’re allowed to be. Our work together will help you make sense of those inner dynamics, how they formed, what they’re protecting, and move toward more honest, resilient connection with yourself and others.

Everyone experiences life in their own way and therefore our thoughts, feelings and perceptions are unique to each individual. Although words are our primary method of communication, words sometimes cannot fully express our emotions and experiences. As a Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I use art making and creativity specified to meet your individual needs to help guide you and your family towards healing and wellness.

You're navigating one of life's most difficult relationship challenges. Whether the discovery was recent or ongoing, you're experiencing intense emotional pain, intrusive thoughts, difficulty sleeping, and uncertainty about your relationship's future. You may feel overwhelmed by competing emotions—anger, grief, confusion, fear. You're wondering if healing is possible, whether individually or as a couple. You need more than general relationship counseling; you're seeking specialized support that acknowledges the complexity of betrayal trauma and offers evidence-based pathways forward.

I came to this profession later than many others after having my own transformative experiences in psychotherapy. I am now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and believe strongly in the changes and possibilities that therapy can help to foster in my clients' lives. I feel comfortable treating a range of concerns, but have a particular interest in the experiences of those who struggle with depression, isolation, and self-esteem. I believe very strongly that when provided the appropriate environment a person will feel free to think and speak in new, unguarded ways about themselves and their experiences.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
