I'm a LGBTQIA +, relationship affirming, and racial justice oriented therapist.
Accepting new clients! You feel "other". You always have. You feel like no one gets it. You're exhausted from trying to live up to the standards set by literally everyone around you. The pressure and the criticism has made you feel like a pressure cooker... and sometimes it's scary. You don't recognize yourself anymore, and sometimes you don't even know if the "old" you is actually the REAL you. You need someone to help you hold your "stuff" and make sense of the chaos in your head because it's just too heavy on your own at this point.

Accepting new clients! As a queer , trans , non-binary human I will offer my lived experience and clinical expertise where appropriate to provide a safe and affirming space. Not only for queer people, but anyone who has ever felt alone or ‘other’. I have spent the better part of my life unlearning an enormous amount of harmful messages I received about what it means to be part of the LGBTQIA + community. I became a therapist because I know how hard it was for me to find a queer -competent and affirming mental healthcare provider when I needed it the most.

I have extensive experience working with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, sexual identity, and gender identity. I am a Certified Transgender Care Therapist. I find that treatment works best when we approach it as a team. I am your “guide,” and you as the “active participant working towards change.” Through this dynamic, we can create a space for transformation and growth. While we are on this journey together, I want you to be able to question/challenge, think, and make decisions for yourself that serve you.

I'm a queer , neurodivergent, and affirming therapist with an anti-oppression approach.
If you are an adult suffering from OCD, I would love to hear from you! I specialize in treating OCD, and I am especially skilled in treating “rumination as a compulsion”—mental compulsions that are not visible to anyone else. I offer Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), and Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), all of which are scientifically effective in treating OCD. I-CBT has been described as profound and a “game-changer.” This compassionate and effective psychotherapy has been changing lives in Canada and Europe for over 20 years.

My specialties center on sexuality (relationships/ethical non-monogamy, LGBTQ +, sexual compulsivity, sexual abuse), as well as more common concerns like depression, anxiety, and trauma.
People come to see me because they have reached a point in their lives where something needs to change. This may be a decreased experience of happiness and fulfillment, repetitive patterns of destructive behavior, a general sense of agitation and frustration, diminishing relationships with loved ones, a desire to understand yourself more clearly, or something else entirely. I will help you examine what is working well in your life and what is hindering your journey towards health and happiness.

I'm a LGBTQIA +, relationship, and culturally affirming therapist.
*Accepting new clients* Vulnerability. It's a word that sounds all motivating and "Hell yeah!" when Brene Brown talks about it, but when it comes to actually DOING it, it terrifies you. In order to get to the root of what's causing your discomfort, I'm going to ask you to get vulnerable. I'm going to ask you to share your story (no, the real story) with me. But you don't have to do it alone. I want to help you move from SURIVING to THRIVING. I want you to FINALLY start living the life you've imagined. It doesn't have to be "someday". It can be now. And I can help.

I provide teletherapy to clients in Pennsylvania and California (I am a licensed therapist in both states). I specialize in working with adults (18-65) who identify as LGBTQ + who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, substance use, and a range of issues related to interpersonal relationships and identity. Each client brings unique experiences, goals, strengths, questions, and problems to the process of therapy. Therefore, therapy constantly presents new opportunities for change, learning about oneself and others, and cultivating compassion for oneself and others.

I specialize in working with LGBTQIA + folk through a variety of experiences.
I am currently accepting new clients. I believe we're all natural storytellers. Our stories are self-created and influenced by the people and world around us. These stories help us to make meaning of our lives and experiences. Sometimes they help us to feel comfort and strength, while other times we may feel distressing and uncomfortable emotions. They can even get in the way of how we want to live our lives. When this happens, we can feel stuck and hopeless. Together, let’s explore how they are affecting you and help you to begin living your preferred story.

Many of us are navigating systems that were not designed to nourish us, and growing through hardships that leave us feeling isolated and overwhelmed. I work to help people (especially LGBTQ people, BIPOC, and Neurodivergent people) understand how therapy (e.g. acceptance, emotion regulation, interpersonal skills, stress-reduction, trauma work, value-driven action) can be applied to overcome and liberate. I also specialize in managing Bipolar Disorder, OCD/OCD-spectrum disorders, PTSD, & Social Anxiety. By enhancing your strengths, reworking coping mechanisms, and reframing beliefs about yourself, you can find peace and joy.

My ten years of experience working with LGBTQ people and clients of various backgrounds in mental health settings has shown me that personal change occurs best through relationships based on trust, and a common purpose. Relationships where you are encouraged to say what’s on your mind, be challenged, take risks, and gain new insights. In our sessions, I will focus on honoring your autonomy as we work towards your goals for therapy. My intention is not to teach you a “correct way to live" but instead to learn what already works for you and help create a space to explore yourself further leading to new possibilities for your life.

Accepting new clients! You feel "other" everywhere and anywhere you go. Managing day-to-day life is becoming more and more of a challenge. And just "managing" is no longer cutting it for you. You want to really SHOW UP. You want to arrive authentically. You want to THRIVE, instead of merely surviving. But you have no idea how to actually do that, and the idea of doing that has terrified you to the point of paralysis. Sometimes, you're not even sure who your "authentic self" is because you've never had a safe, nonjudgmental space to figure that out. A space where someone FINALLY doesn't tell you what to feel or how to live.

I am a licensed clinical therapist specializing in the issues of LGBTQ individuals, couples, and families.
We all grow up and live in a society which favors conformity. Not "fitting in" or being "different" can result in feelings of depression, low self-esteem, and isolation which can effect all aspects of our lives. This can be especially true for the LGBTQ population. As a psychodynamic therapist, my goal is to assist you in your personal development from unsatisfying or painful patterns of living and to a life that you can celebrate. While we can't change the past, we can work together to change how it continues to impact your life and resolve challenges and issues that have resulted from it.

With experience working with folx of diverse backgrounds, Bailey specializes in holding safe space for the LGBTQIA + community and anyone ready to explore healing in a creative and collaborative way.
Maybe you’re just starting your healing journey, or looking for a change - to meet with a therapist who sees you as a whole person, and not just your circumstances. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before but it feels like no one really gets it, or the things that “should” work just don’t. Therapy with Bailey is a little bit different because we have to do things in new ways to start to think and feel better than before. Based out of Pittsburgh, PA and serving clients in Utah through telehealth, this is truly therapy outside the box.

*Accepting new clients* Being able to connect with a therapist is hard--really hard. Especially if you are part of the LGBTQIA + community. Am I right? Feeling "other" has become so normal that we often don't even realize we are merely surviving because we don't know there's another way to exist. Stress, shame, and all of the other emotions swirling around create a tornado that is hard to get out of. That's where I come in. I'm a LGBTQIA +, relationship (i.e. CNM), and culturally affirming therapist with lived experience as a queer woman with a trans partner, as well as assisted reproduction and gender-expansive parenting.

How can I find a therapist in Pittsburgh?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
